Home Office handling of NFLM records

Submitted a variation for .233 in November last year and have since been notified by FEO that due to an administrative error in their department my file has been deleted and thus no record exists of my licences on NFLM database. I've been told by the police it is for the Home Office to retrieve my file and that they can't process variation until Home Office actions the query. Would be interested to know whether anyone has been put in a similar predicament and how they resolved the issue?

If you are a BASC member, try calling the Firearms Dept.
This should be something they can help with.
Otherwise try your MP or PCC.
Your FAC is issued by the Chief Constable not the HO, so they should sort it out.

and these numpties are paid by our taxes to do it this badly. utter joke. if they have lost all record of you and your guns, how can you prove your legal?

Thing is, the NFLM is the 'single source of truth' - the FAC or SGC is just a snapshot of what is on the database on the date it was printed.

By all means email them a scan of it - whatever you do keep a tight hold of the original - but they need to go through the process of getting your records restored.

I suggest the following:
1) get hold of your organisation and ask them for advice.
2) If you haven't already, get your FLO to email you what they've told you with a contact number on it. Print this out and carry it with you along with your FAC when you're out shooting. Hopefully avoids any trouble with the law should you get stopped/pulled over.

To error is to be human 😊 if you have had a certificate for many years then who has not received a FAC or SGC without an error on it? I have had make of gun changed, ammunition left off, certificate not signed by the Cheif Constable, all correct very quickly by the licensing team.

Hope you get the problem sorted quickly.

Any e mail history?
I managed to get an email with attached letter from police after contacting the gamekeepers organisation. So I'm ok with regards to proving authority to use firearms. But haven't had confirmation as to how the matter is to be resolved.

I find this strange and suspect you or the feo has had a misunderstanding. Nflms is the licensing platform for Wales and England. If you have a certificate number the search functions will locate you and you're history. It will also show the date and times where you have had an interaction with fld. That's if the person has recorded it. In regards to HO having access each constabulary has a nflms manager auditor. These champions have greater access to the system.

Your FAC is valid, if they have lost the electronic copy, give them a photo copy.

If they have made a mistake, they are human, they need to rectify it.
