Please Act Now - General Election 2024

So many key issues will be decided by whoever takes power after the general election, there may never have been a bigger day at the ballot box for shooting.

Please act now to safeguard the future of shooting by contacting your parliamentary candidates before the general election on 4 July.

BASC has created a dedicated page where you can easily identify your candidates and ask them to support the BASC manifesto.

Contact your parliamentary candidates

Please ensure that any replies you receive are forwarded to politics@basc.org.uk
Well what a waste of time. Went through your page only to find that none of the candidates in my constituency are contactable. Well done BASC🙈

I’ve done enough, it no longer excites me, I no longer get buck fever that was the big indicator, pulling the trigger and feeling nothing for the animals life I have taken I always said would be the beginning of the end, and I have reached that point.

I am not anti shooting in any way, I just don’t worry about things that we as a small minority have 0 control over.

It will be what it will be !
This begs the obvious question , why the heck spend time posting on a forum about stalking ?

Funny enough I wrote to my local MP and got an automatic email reply saying that parliament was closed but my email may get read?? Whats that all about?

Hope they put more effort in than that or my vote will be going elsewhere. Trouble is, who is standing up for shooting and the country way of life?

Might as well hand your tickets in if that's how you feel.

On another note, every post you make on any thread is always bringing the thread down. I guess you believe that you're being helpful. To me it makes you seem like a troll, it's quite irritating. It also seems that you're post don't actually contribute to the OP's original topic.

You're a grown man who holds an FAC, stop acting like a teenage girl!
yeah ive noticed that, ignore button works a treat

Whether we are a minority or not, should make no difference in a country that is supposed to be based on freedom of choice and activity within the laws of the land. I for one am fed up with the major parties talking absolute B////cks 99.9% of the time.
There hollow promises mean nothing to me, and many others, I assume. The conservatives have done nothing for the countryside and shooting communities. Labour will never do anything to support us, and would probably ban shooting given half the chance.

I didn't vote for anyone last time, Boris the buffon and complete half wit, stuck up ponce was always a liar, and continues to be so. Therefore my vote this time is for reform.

Why??

It’s matters not to me who gets voted in, or what happens to the shooting world, I am at the point where I see things for how they are, not for what i want them to be.

I’m a realist these days not a dreamer
Then why do you remain on here then?

We get it that you are not interested in stalking deer anymore. However you do put a smirk on my face when you claim to have stalked for SOOOOOOOO long. 20 odd years?

Christ I was taking deer when you were still in nappies. We get it that your packing in, the whole bloody world knows it. So can we just leave it now, PLEASE.

I think the judicial hammer of banning is required....

The ReformUK manifesto is a very clear undertaking to restore a type of democratic governance that makes sense to most of us. In particular, the emphasis on productive farming and rural life. Excerpts:

Scrap Net Zero and Related Subsidies.
The UK cost of Net Zero has been estimated by the National Grid and others at some £2
trillion or more. It is so big that no one really knows. The public sector is spending billions
each year with no accountability or transparency. Ditching Net Zero would save the public
sector some £20 billion per year for the next 25 years, possibly more.

Hate Crime
The CPS and police definition of a hate crime has led to systemic bias. Members of the
British public must not be investigated because ‘any’ person ‘perceives’ that a hate crime
has been committed. Proper evidence must be required.

Instigate “Veterans First” priority Status.
For healthcare, housing, training and education, together with support for dependents.

Scrap climate-related farming subsidies.
Productive land must be farmed, not be used for solar farms or rewilding. Replace current subsidies with direct payments. Stop Natural England from taking action that damages farmers.

Future technology & fertiliser supplies.
Farmers must have access to new technology to boost production and cut costs. UK food security also depends on fertiliser supply and production.

Encourage young people into farming.
Offer subsidised courses at Agricultural Colleges and apprenticeships to help young people learn farming ‘craft’ and business management.

Excess Deaths and Vaccine Harms Public Inquiry.
Excess deaths are nearly as high as they were during the Covid pandemic. Young people are overrepresented.

Fair enough, but our local currently serving MP is standing again and being very 'vocal ' about it on social media, however they don't appear on the list of candidates??

When you put in your constituency name into the box on the BASC general election campaign webpage a template text will come up which you can adapt as need be and then click send to email candidates currently available to contact:

The template text is:

I am emailing you as a general election candidate for my constituency to ask for your views on sustainable shooting and conservation.

Shooting and conservation play a key role in the economy and management of the countryside. The Value of Shooting Report 2024 shows that:

• Shooting supports the equivalent of 67,000 full time jobs.
• Shooting is worth £3.3 billion to the economy (GVA).
• Shooting generates £9.3 billion of wider economic activity.
• Habitat management and conservation work is carried out on 18.87 million acres as a result of shooting.
• 620,000 people are actively involved in shooting related activities.
• Those involved in shooting provide 14 million conservation workdays, the equivalent of 26,000 full time conservation jobs.

For further information on the benefits of shooting please visit: Capturing the economic, environmental and social value of shooting in the UK - The Value of Shooting

Given this, I would be grateful if you could approve our manifesto: BASC election manifesto 2024

You can do this by emailing me your approval.

I will be informing BASC of your reply. They represent 150,000 members and will be letting them and others know where candidates stand.

Thank you in advance for replying to my email.
