Please Act Now - General Election 2024

When you put in your constituency name into the box on the BASC general election campaign webpage a template text will come up which you can adapt as need be and then click send to email candidates currently available to contact:

The template text is:

I am emailing you as a general election candidate for my constituency to ask for your views on sustainable shooting and conservation.

Shooting and conservation play a key role in the economy and management of the countryside. The Value of Shooting Report 2024 shows that:

• Shooting supports the equivalent of 67,000 full time jobs.
• Shooting is worth £3.3 billion to the economy (GVA).
• Shooting generates £9.3 billion of wider economic activity.
• Habitat management and conservation work is carried out on 18.87 million acres as a result of shooting.
• 620,000 people are actively involved in shooting related activities.
• Those involved in shooting provide 14 million conservation workdays, the equivalent of 26,000 full time conservation jobs.

For further information on the benefits of shooting please visit: Capturing the economic, environmental and social value of shooting in the UK - The Value of Shooting

Given this, I would be grateful if you could approve our manifesto: BASC election manifesto 2024

You can do this by emailing me your approval.

I will be informing BASC of your reply. They represent 150,000 members and will be letting them and others know where candidates stand.

Thank you in advance for replying to my email.

Great
Thanks Conor

Maybe post the same on PW - i have not looked if you have at all

Nominations close on Friday 7th June after which all candidate details should be available on the BASC website but feel free meanwhile to get in touch directly with your MP asking if they will support BASC manifesto and forward any reply to politics@basc.org.uk
Waste of time with Bob Seely, his opinion is whatever the party whips tell him it is and just like before preelection bull****!

Time to chuck it in then mate.
Give you're ground to someone who is more worthy
He's not renewing his FAC (mentioned it quite a few times) so in a couple of years he'll hand it all over and won't be concerned with fieldsports in general or the happening on the SD.

I haven't stalked or shot any quarry in 20 years and no longer have any licences for that purpose yet I will always defend your rights so you can continue to hunt as you choose. The "I'm alright Jack" attitude stinks. Awaiting what my MP comes back with.

Hi , I appreciate that nominations have now closed, but out of 5 candidates for my local seat, only one is contactable (reform candidate) I have emailed the Conservative & lib dem candidates with contact details I have found. Would it be helpful if I sent the addresses to the BASC 'politics' email address? Thanks

I have done and my MPs details are not on there

Whether we are a minority or not, should make no difference in a country that is supposed to be based on freedom of choice and activity within the laws of the land. I for one am fed up with the major parties talking absolute B////cks 99.9% of the time.
There hollow promises mean nothing to me, and many others, I assume. The conservatives have done nothing for the countryside and shooting communities. Labour will never do anything to support us, and would probably ban shooting given half the chance.

I didn't vote for anyone last time, Boris the buffon and complete half wit, stuck up ponce was always a liar, and continues to be so. Therefore my vote this time is for reform.
This might be the first election I vote none of the above ! Only thing that bothers me is we are at war with Russia whatever they tell us , mind you we had a coalition during ww2 .

Thanks. BASC has been working off daily candidate contact details updates provided by an agency and I have been advised that a piecemeal approach will just complicate things (there are thousands of candidates across UK). However, if you get any replies from your candidates please do forward to politics@basc.org.uk so that we can update our webpages accordingly.

What does no response received mean on the page please ?
Is this changing as we send in the information ?
Thanks

Thanks, it will be interesting to see how many of the candidates contact details are available by election day. Surely by utilising the BASC membership and those like myself who are not currently members, to feed information into the BASC website can only be a good thing?

Anyway, I have emailed the 3 candidates with best chance of the seat. Conservative- outgoing mp might respond as election year, apart from that you might as well send a letter to Santa. Lib dem - will probably win seat due to Conservative MP (will be surprised if I get a response to email as bigger fish to fry than gaining a few votes from the shooting community) . Reform, may get a response as they are after any vote they can get.

Should I receive any replies I will forward...

On the BASC website there is a tick box for the following:

Has signed our manifesto:
  • Yes
  • No
  • No answer
'No answer' means either we have had no answer from the candidate directly or via others emailing us - or that we have had an answer and not yet updated our website.

Thanks. I think all the contact details will be up next week for the declared candidates now that the deadline for declarations has passed. Remember, this was a snap election announcement so a lot happening at short notice. BASC launched the campaign only 10 days after that announcement. There are many organisations outside our sector not yet launched any campaign. Things will however hot up next week, not least as party manifestos get published.

As expected, response from the Reform candidate "Thank you - I am in full support of this"
