carpal tunnel symdrome

Why would your boss need to prepare a defence ?
Carpal tunnel syndrome can happen to anybody for any reason, it happens to people who do nothing more strenuous than pick a pen up, or can happen to somebody who has spent a lifetime abusing their hands in heavy industry, or not happen.
I have had both hands done, was it because I have used my hands for pushing spanners and vice handles along with using a hammer all my life, or was it because I am just unlucky. Doesn't really matter does it, it happens (or not) so we have to deal with it, but to suggest it is somebodies fault and want to claim damages it just wrong.

Neil. :)
where did it say i was going to make claim for damages ?

Been reading with interest , I think I have cts, for many years I was a toolmaker using a surface grinding machine. If you've used one you'll know it involved LOTS of winding handles simultaneously ! Moved onto button pushing now on a all singing all dancing thing! Thing is does this mean a new blaser r8 would slow down the disease as it is straight pull ? Might use the replys as evidence to the good wife

I had the operation about 3 years ago - right hand only. Definitely from repetitive stress (lubing cast boolits for sale).
Take it easy for a while - it could take up to 3 months for a full recovery.
I am debating having it done on the left hand as it stops me working quite often but I cannot afford the time off (self employed).

It is always a problem, I had my right hand done on very short notice when offered a cancellation, the down side was 5 days after the op I had to spend a day running a chain saw, it actually wasn't that bad, at least I managed to cut enough small trees down to keep 6 people busy carting it away to the fire. Lol
I found my fingers worked ok, so long as I didn't put direct pressure on the stitches it was fine.

If it is done properly the recovery is very quick. I was waterskiing 10 days after having carpal and cupital (elbow) tunnel reliefs which I'd earned from a bad arm break.
