So after being in Sw Scotland finally decided on the gunshop of choice for me it's not a hard choice @Edinburgh Rifles service is always good from them and staff always spot on! Been into day had only intentions of picking up some .22 and my brother was looking for a .23-250 came out with a .22-250 a macnab lowlander and a Remington Spartan. Never feels like they are trying to sell you anything! Always have a good stock of guns and ammo and always up for a laugh! Spent time with the Mrs checking that the 20 bore was gonna be right for her and that she liked it.
Best gunshop I've found!

Yep @Edinburgh Rifles are sneeky like that - they invite you into the gun room, offer excellent service and good advice and help you find a gun that wants to come home with you.
Don’t worry most other shops of any kind are rude, unhelpful and don’t even know what they have in stock. Try going into any shop to buy bits for your car …. It’s a painful experience.

I know! It's irony.
I believe they also offer an excellent custom receipt service, such that you can prove to wives and significant others that rifles do all only cost £250 and scopes never cost more than £80.
I've yet to need that service, the wife is too clued up on what things cost
my trick is look at the more expensive option even if it's not what I want and she will "find" the cheaper option than was what I wanted she thinks she's saved some money and I get what I am after

I have 'lied' to my wife for years, about what my firearms have cost.
To address this breakdown in trust in our relationship, I have also put a 'ticket' on each firearm; detailing when it was bought, and how much I really paid for it. That way, she will have a 'starter for ten', when it comes to disposing of them after I am dead.
The beauty of this plan is, that I will be dead and so she cannot hurt me...
NB for the purists.

This could be a good idea for people to recommend proper good RFDs in your area. Not just word of mouth, but places you know really do it properly. Be good when people are travelling or on hols too.

Initially, I had a slot for .338 but then learnt you cannot use that on most ranges.
Luckily I was able to swap it over to .308 before I bought the damn thing.

It’s a guide, there’s no legal requirement- I have never been questionned on this during 30 years of inspections and renewals.
Sometimes forget my bino’s, yes. But I keep spares in the car.
I know plenty of people who have shown up with mag or bolt left behind.
