Still not wanted.I dont think we are, just about every buisness i visit is looking for staff.
By who though?Still not wanted.
I'd say most people dont want migrants, especially up NorthBy who though?
just about every industry uses migrant labour. Id say most people do want migrants
Yep...You have hit the nail firmly on the head. When Great Britain ruled the waves we went where we liked and took over other countries without a care in the world for who was already there and no one saw a problem with it. We used their resources with no thought to the future to further our own society and make us one of the most powerful nations on earth.
Now we have people wanting to come to us for a better life and it's a case of "not in my backyard".
People risking their lives travelling thousands of miles and then a crappy boat to cross one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world with one of the highest and strongest tides and
?they're all just chancers out to take advantage of the land of milk and honey?
Is was different when we sort the best for us, we had a right, we belived in the correct god and needed to spread the wordYep...You have hit the nail firmly on the head.![]()
when did i say that?I dont know the answer, but you said there were legal ways, im interested to know how they could legally claim asylum in the uk?
Sorry you didntwhen did i say that?
Fixed it for you. The utter folly and corruption of the Conservatives over the last decade and a half is why we have a massive Labour majority today. If they'd done a less lamentable job, we would be in a different place now. They were not just the the worst Conservative governments we've ever had, but from Johnson onwards, probably the worst of any stripe. The last Conservative Government was mad wasn't it.
Scum.
You know they literally had to legislate that a lie was the truth in order for it to become legal. That was the level of insane/immoral cluelessness they sank to. Not a good look for the Rwanda plan.all figures are relative... was the Rwanda plan a waste - well it can be argued both ways... did it stop anyone coming by just being in place... no one can quantify that.... was it expensive? 240 million quid is a fortune to me, but in government terms its not even a half days cost of the NHS (21 million per hour)
Half of my family have worked abroad at some point, but they worked paid whatever taxes they were owing, had visas etc and all above board and obeyed the laws of the country they were in.
I do not appreciate all of the changes to this country during my lifetime. In that time the population (during a time of a reducing birthrate) has increased by about 50% (46 million odd in the 1961 census to 68 million now). the infrastructure in the number of GP's Dentists and school has not risen by the same amount
Couldn't prisoners be sent there instead? The immigration problem is dreadful on so many levels but now to add to it - £240m of our utterly wasted taxes and no plan B.
I really do despair….

At last, some out of the box thought.Couldn't prisoners be sent there instead?

Fixed that excellent idea for you sir!Couldn'tprisonerspoliticians be sent there instead?
They sent their illegal immigrants to Papua New Guinea and Nauru for processing. It dramatically reduced the number of illegals entering Australia.Did they send them to Rwanda ? Didn’t realise
yes. lots of other countries do it.They sent their illegal immigrants to Papua New Guinea and Nauru for processing. It dramatically reduced the number of illegals entering Australia.

I get deterrents. It’s just that the Rwanda scheme as cooked up by the last lot was a clown show and a crap idea, made us look a bunch of fools internationally.yes. lots of other countries do it.

Using migration to plug staff shortages is just like signing up to a pyramid scheme.I dont think we are, just about every buisness i visit is looking for staff.
Not just farms, hotels, pubs, restaurants, nurserys.Using migration to plug staff shortages is just like signing up to a pyramid scheme.
I know farmers that struggle for staff....they also drive range rover sports while paying staff minimum wage.
Things need to change..... and migration isn't the answer
You have a point. I know that I would not want to be in the crew of an aircraft full of illegal immigrants being deported to Rwanda or anywhere else. As others have pointed out, many of the dinghy borne individuals are fit, strong young men with who knows what training, possibly being sent here as a fifth column to cause serious disorder.Personally I thought it was a kooky idea that smacked of desperation. Whether the new government will be able to have any effect after poo poohing the old governments efforts is another matter. Time will tell I guess. Whatever, obviously not an easily solved problem.
