Thank you Rwanda and just keep the change

What is in your opinion the correct min wage then for an over 21 year old?
Our own doctors are leaving because wages are too low
Id sad thats a balance
It's not just about minimum wage....if doctors are leaving or we aren't training enough then it's up to government to address that. I don't know.... perhaps don't give billions to Ukraine and let's stop tuition fees on all medical degrees instead. If your plan to solve the crisis in the NHS is to have 2.5 million migrants in 2 years....and we still have shortages then something is askew isn't it??? Taking medical staff from abroad especially from developing countries can never be ok.

If we need agricultural workers and we don't have enough even with today's levels of immigration then something is again not working. I left agriculture because we were treated like shite....so did many friends.

A country that tries to solve any issues with mass immigration is a failed country.

I agree that tuition fees for Doctors and Nurses is a massive dis-incentive for youngsters entering these professions and should be scrapped!! Maybe then we wouldn't be so reliant on migrant NHS staff.
And that's NOT intended in any way as a criticism of the overseas members of the NHS staff.

Complex problem but until big boy steps are taken and followed through it will continue apace.
Sooo, back of the envelope stuff - starting with a blank piece of paper….
* benefits culture must stop; the idea of more money on the dole than working is utter nonsense;
* society’s needs must come first so stop encouraging/funding stupid/useless degrees, concentrate on what gives greatest benefits to all and place greater emphasis/funding on apprenticeships (see first bullet point above);
* encourage selective immigration - short term only to fill our society’s needs/skills gap;
* mandatory minimum tariffs for serious offences including Class A drugs - possession and selling;
There you go - more to come but right now my dinner is ready…

Prison system is knackered, why worry about drugs?
Legalise all drugs and tax them like sugar, fags and booze. Clean drugs of known strength are safe drugs, if bought from a licensed shop gangs and associated crime cant continue. Police dont waste time on drugs, prisons arent full, more tax money in the system

Also, jailing for possession when it involves addicts is pointless, there are plenty of drugs in prison so once time is served they come out the same. They need rehab.

(I know you know this, we share the same views over this stuff)

Dont need rehab , we need death penalty.

Starmer won't deport any of them because they are all potential Labour voters, just like the 16-18 year-olds he will be giving the vote. Gerrymandering?

That's pretty dumb.
Meh , it’s an idea that would reduce drug user numbers and drug dealer numbers but it’s a pretty savage solution and any government that would/could bring that in would have worryingly too much power which they could turn upon for example a religious group or a certain nationality , who’s knows who they would decide to eradicate………

We could have carried on, those businesses would have stayed open and traded. There would have been some exceptions but not to the extent we went.
You must be kidding me, or you have a very interesting line of business, one that can tolerate:
1. No travel, so no meeting with customers or suppliers for over a year
2. Still pay your rent, rates, staff, taxes on staff, bank loans, and for all the goods you ordered pre-pandemic expecting life to be as normal.
3. What you do import or export you have to pay 10 times more for shipping or more (e.g. container load went from $1780 to $28000).
4. Your customers stop buying because they are broke, or shut down, by CoVID.

Other than "businesses" such as Onlyfans, I can't think of many small to medium businesses living through that without furlough, and if they manage to scrape through, to remain competitive as things got back to normal, let alone self-employed people who have to be holed up for a year.

One thing Mr Johnson got right, was recognising immediately the earthquake effect that CoVID would have on households and honest small businesses, and DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Most of the rest of the UK government did all it could do damn British Industry, in a corruption fest spanning from Trading Standards impounding British made PPE then realising it was all certified, while letting megatons of Chinese junk PPE through the door for their mates, to MHRA and their £2600/day per consultant fees they impose, to the corrupt handling of contracts, and the money scatter of giving billions to 6 companies that never developed a respirator or any medical product before, instead of helping British companies that have made respirators for decades to increase their production.

Nobody should have shut down/locked down.
