Are people still buying PARD ?

Just wonder what the view is on PARD on here - bought a couple of NV008 LRF and they have been decent day/night scopes especially for the bunnies and foxes. Was looking to sell them
But not sure people are buying them these days - thoughts ???

Sales of PARD NV products dropped significantly when the Arken Zulus came on the scene
The situation was not helped because the Gen 2 DS35 came out with an LED IR rather than a laser IR which resulted in significantly poorer NV performance than the Gen 1 version
Sportsman Gun Centre are the importer and distributor for PARD products, but if you look at their website many products are out of stock and the supposed delivery dates tend to be continually extended
If you try to sell your NV008s, then IMHO, don't expect more than around £300 each

Hindsight is always 20/20.Wish I'd never spent close to grand on my 008 LRF & eaglevision mount in 2022.
Hated it,took too much of the hype in,ended up in the cupboard before I sold it for less than half price on here last year.
But another man's meat is another man's poison & I'm sure there's thousands of satisfied Pard user's everywhere.
Just not me🫤

Hmmm.
Funny thing is I am a fan and still consider them to be good value - having bought and still using the Pard 007, 008P and more recently the Arkens Zulus I can speak from having some experience with each. They all work well but are very different - the 007 is very flexible (.22/.17hmr/.222/6.5x55 and .308) with no grounds for complaint if a good add-on IR is used. I love the 008P - as a dedicated 24hr set up (was on the .222 but now demoted to the .17hmr) I really rate it again especially with a good add-on IR. The Zulus is excellent (now on the .222) and you do not need an add-on IR unless you are out on a moor but the focus is sooooo fiddly - to the point of irritation.
They are all useful in their own way but technology advances at such a speed that another version is always just around the corner…

people always waiting from purchasing as they want the latest thing out , ...truth is if you hang off and wait they will always be something coming in a few months or couple of years that will be the next big thing

hang off if you want but missing out on the shooting / outings you could have had in the interim ...lifes too short ... who knows if you wake up tomorow ...

buy it use it enjoy it......

if you want to sell your Pards do so.... their will always be someone whose budget they will fit and your old scope may help the next person transform their shooting ..... i had the 008p with vcsel and range finder and was missing rabbits with the .22lr ...then id ping it and its 168yds away !!!! nothing wrong with Pards... just that at moment if want to spend more you can get better but they still have a place & capable of a job

I've not got a Pard 008, only a 007 add-on, my pal and I had a swapsies a good while ago one night, he used my scope/007 and I used his 008 gotta say the image through his 008 was another level compared to mine... but I'm still knocking over foxes & rats galore with the 007 until it gives up the ghost, then I'll upgrade to a Vulpine, swap it between four rifles ;) .
008 will keep doing the job until they die I think.

I found exactly the same....only i bought 2 x zulus and got rid of 008. Hung on to the 007 as back up...

I have had all 007s including the last one with lrf, nothing to complain about, versatile and efficient, about a hundred boars in recent years at all distances +1 for Pard low cost, high yield

This is great to hear. My DS35 gen 1 is brilliant at night which is where I use it. Having a better day picture will be a bonus to say the least.

Looking at the sensor spec, I think it will be the same sensor as used in the HIK Alpex 4k
They also claim to be using ED glass in the objective lens - which is something they really needed to do because their lens quality has traditionally been pretty poor compared to other brands
I suspect they will be very good in daylight, but their spec sheet does not quote an aperture for the objective lens which makes judging low light performance more difficult

Cheers

A bit of a segue Bruce but as per another comment or two - why does the Zulus require max brightness (6) setting or is there a way round this?

You can't make the display brighter than level 6, but if you need level 6 all the time, I suggest you get your eyes tested :)
In bright sunlight - specially if the sun is behind you, you'd need the rubber eyecup and level 6 brightness but at night, with or without the rubber eyecup, most people have it set much lower to reduce glare on their face and strain on their eyes

Me & a couple of pals were lucky enough to sell ours to a Ukranian guy that wanted to buy as many as possible. We got half decent money for them all before the Zulus arrived and the price plummeted. The Zulus really is a game changer.

Of course you had the relevant HMRC export paperwork for licensable goods in place 😃 whether you shipped it directly or knowingly sold it would go out of the U.K. doesn’t matter, it’s an offense, and a big one - lessons to be learned to a lot of eBay sellers as well!

They were sold in the UK.

In fairness the Pard008 are a great unit and a used one with LRF is a steal at £300 especially for anyone upgarding from the 007. It's small, light, discreet looking and a savage piece of technology for anyone even half interested in night or day shooting.

The Arken Zulus looks like a tidy unit as well but Jaysus the more modern digital Pards are like something out of Star Wars.

Wouldn't be my cup of tea now at all, at all.
