Ticks!!!

I have at least one stuck in me somewhere after every deer I shoot. I was sat in a fancy restaurant last week, wearing a short sleeved shirt and noticed one on my upper arm. SWMBO was not amused! Just found another on my side whilst showering, think Ive left the barb stuck in me so I'll have to ask the Mrs to inspect. She hates them (and me for bringing them in the house)!
Why is it some people seem to attract them more than others? I stalk with a mate who kills lots more deer than I do and he is rarely bothered by them.

Nightmare at times......doesn't matter if I'm fishing in the Highlands or Stalking anywhere, always find an odd tick or tick nymph somewhere.
Always carry an O'Tom Tick Twister tool with me now and have one of the Life Systems Tick card in my wallet - even if I don't need it, someone will!
A friend has been working on Ticks as part of his Doctorate and work for years and still doesn't have any complete solution to the little blighters!

I don't think we'll ever see a usable human repellent but I am hopeful the US-lead Lyme's vaccination will soon deliver a good protection against the dreaded LD!

Both my Better Half and now myself swear by the stuff.
Better Half was working a residential project over at Alladale, week 1 came back with 6 ticks. Sprayed her trousers, mid thigh ish length down the way, with the stuff that weekend. Remaining 5 weeks of the project not a single tick latched.

Similar for me, August 2023 through until April at least one tick per month. Sprayed my trousers early May and nothing since.

Highly recommend this stuff

Been stalking for about 10 years now.
Only ever had 1 tick before.

This weekend I've had 2.
One I found on my arm, and removed while I was sat in a low box

The other I found before getting in the shower this morning. Without being too specific, it was on a part of the anatomy that rhymes with tick......

I was not impressed 🤣
My Teckel usually picks up 2 ticks a week in the summer, none so far this year ( ? Yorkshire weather) I had 2 on my legs last year removed them with tick tweezers then swabbed the site in tea tree oil (antibacterial) great stuff always have both in the first aid kit.

I’ve worked in forestry for 30 years, they never seemed to bother me. I had three or four on me that whole time despite sometimes being on sites where the dog has picked up dozens of them. One day a couple of years ago though, I got home from a site visit and found 18 of them bitten into me. What a mission it was to get the ones out of the crack of my arse one my own at a campsite!

Pony boying on the hill in October as a boy once I lay in the heather waiting for the radio call, my record, 22 ticks on me, the other ghillie and I used to check each other's 'out of sight areas' at night after a shower in the bothy, it was very 'Brokeback Mountain..'

Sometimes a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.

  ,"Brokeback Mountain", that brought back memories ..... Griff could attest to that, what he saw when arriving with the Argo was a bit like that ... Flyboy 270 kneeling, with Finnbear270 at the rear, attending to Flyboy's bib & brace full of pine needles like a filling for a giant teddy bear.
