Norfolk Deer Search aka "boomerang"

It had been a fair few years since I last made the trip over to Norfolk long enough that even the sat nav seemed a bit confused with all the changes along the way.

Still, there’s something about driving the A14 that never changes. You can’t help but scan the fields, half expecting to spot deer at any moment, that familiar sense of anticipation building as the miles tick by.

This time, I was heading to spend the weekend with Lee Cooper, better known to many as Norfolk Deer Search.

He’s been banned more times than a boomerang’s been thrown, yet somehow, he always finds his way back.

After a six-hour haul from Anglesey, I was met with a brew within minutes of arriving, and we soon settled into putting the world to rights while going over the plan for the weekend’s cull.

My experience with Chinese water deer is fairly limited, but I’ve always had a soft spot for them. They’re fascinating little animals, and the few I’ve taken over the years have provided not only great venison but also stalks that stick with you.

Teamed up with two other like minded stalkers, we headed out on Friday afternoon full of optimism.
Over the course of three outings, the three of us accounted for 17 deer,a proper result by any standard. The bag was mostly CWD bucks, with a few does and the odd muntjac thrown in for good measure, all part of keeping on top of things on Lee’s ground.

As for me, I had one of those weekends you don’t forget in a hurry with three cracking animals, all comfortably in medal territory.

What really made it, though, was the company. Lee’s hospitality is second to none genuine, generous, and exactly what you hope for in this world.

He’s a real credit to the stalking community, and if you ever get the chance to spend time on his ground, you’ll know you’ve landed on your feet.

An absolute pleasure to have you, your too kind you’ll make me blush🙈

30-06 rules 👌

You’re the first man that I’ve guided and after we shot the suicidal muntjac on the way back to the
Larder that’s said NO. MORE!

😂😂😂😂

Well done Lee, glad your man-flu cleared up as all the Kleenex was even disappearing from the shops around here! :coat:

There’s no point in having a party around a cheap Hooker’s house, and beating around the bush!

You might as well get your tits in the sink and dive in and deal with the consequences after😂🙈
Love it 🥰 I thought about you on Sat morning with those 4 fallow in the deck, best to get em on the deck and worry about it after ... glad I could get the truck within 200 yards of where I shot them. My mate said "give me a ring and I ll bring the quad...if its after 8.30":lol:
