MedCert 2024 waiting times?

I know this has been discussed quite a bit but recently i put in my request for MedCert to complete my medical ticket, but after reading about extremely long waiting times i was wondering how long it has been taking? Anyone had any recent experience?

Most people i know used shootcert . Waiting times were all inside a month , most couple of weeks.
Shootcert seem to be the best of the bunch by a mile ,
I shall be using them at end of year too.

They were a bit slow with mine, but speed up immediately after a chaser email.

Shootcert were great for me.Proforma sent straight through,gave it to the Dr's.
on Friday,completed on Monday.
Got my renewals last week 3 weeks early with a slot for FAC Air to fill

I can only report on whats been passed to me by friends and club members , i will be using them when my time comes at the end of the year .

First time I've had to use them & would recommend them to any shooter who's Dr's won't do the proforma.
How soon is your forms due in?

Forms are not due in as its a first time application, but i prefer the medical form within 3 months to get on with the application as Thames Vally takes around 9 months.

waiting times depend on how quickly your GP release tour medical records. Most GPs delay this until the last minute!!

Have you actually asked your GP to do the form? - if not why are you going straight to adding another step to the process?

The last time i had to do one took 3 months of chasing , and cost me £75 .
Waiting time and appointments have only gone rapidly down hill over the past five yrs . This time round im just not going to put myself though the same old **** again , i would rather pay and extra £20 and let someone else sort it all out for me .

I actually haven't because waiting times for appointments or even a reply to a email is horrifically long so i didn't bother, i probably should have tried tho.

I like to think of it more as removing the broken element and replacing it for for one that works .

Basc system? as far as I know they just have a list of GPs that are willing to do the report.

Many years ago, BASC set up a panel of GMC-registered medical practitioners prepared to help members get medical verification where their GP refused to engage in the firearms licensing process or wanted to charge an exorbitant fee to do so. The doctors on the BASC medical panel have helped thousands of members and we are now at the point that a dedicated service is needed, with training and quality controls in place, and we are now referring members to ShootCert, when we are asked for advice on alternatives to a GP.
