For the record, I was in no way, shape or form suggesting that I’d go to their house and fight them.

I’d go and ask for it back and if they didn’t give it to me, I’d call the police. These people do these scams because they’re anonymous. If you turn up at their house, they’ll realise that they aren’t as anonymous as they thought and might think twice in future. I wouldn’t expect that going to their house would get my scope back but I would certainly go and ask for it. Police are far more likely to attend if you’re stood in front of the scammer.

Maybe I just watched too much Cook Report in the eighties?

Not much of a fighter, last one I had I was 12 !

It’s a common fraud. Certainly not restricted to the one individual you seem to have some strange desire to protect

It’s a pita but you have to play the eBay games. You are always wrong as a seller.

EBay expect you to supply a postage label and if you failed to do so they will refund the buyer and forfeit the item. You can’t claim because there will be some obscure Terms fine print you have “agreed to” simply by existing.

You can appeal and ask for the case to be reviewed explaining your side but don’t assume any rights since they will simply shut you down and refuse to deal with the issue.

Request a callback late at night so that you get through to US call center, there is a remote chance that they will try to help you. If you get through to India (daytime) you’re screwed and won’t receive any help at all.

Last year I purchased a classic 6x40 Apollo scope from the Bay.
When it arrived the crosshairs had collapsed which was a shame as the scope was mint.
The seller didn't accept returns so I opened a case with the Bay,sent the best pics i could of the crosshairs & i was refunded no issue.
I put the scope up for spares or repair FOC apart from cheapest postage,it was taken & repaired by the receiptent.
I never had any issues with the Bay as a buyer or seller in 20yrs.

i stopped using Ebay years ago along with paypal , the odds are loaded against the seller and it was just a pita to try and sort anything out plus paypal i found to be anti gun here in the UK so voted with my business

I was going to comment and say the exact thing! The original post has absolutely NO details beyond "don't say any names", "I sold a scope"

If some one has been conned and they say he is from same area, we may have good chance of the fraud squad getting involved, with him having guns as well they won't like it as someone else has pointed out to me.

After 3 pages of comments, we finally now know that the chap is in Northern Ireland. With all the will in the world, Whoopdeedoo. Google suggests some 54,000 FAC holders there.

Sorry, but as the recent thread re: the Stalking Show, and for all the word of mouth about bad keepers, dodgy sporting agents, people stealing ground, they really are among us, and the vague clues supplied are counterproductive...

You are right on all you say.
I have not thought of phoning at night. that may work but I have spoken to them twice allready.

I was once bilked out of a rifle stock I bought from a chap called Martin from the North of Ireland. I got my money back via PayPal.He offered the same rifle stock ( T3 footprint aics style) for sale on SD a while later. I sent him a very politely worded message.

eBay went massively downhill for sellers when they stopped you being able to give negative feedback.

20 years ago it was pretty good for sellers on there, but over the years eBay has squeezed ever harder. I've still had some good sales on cash on collection stuff, but they've tried to clamp down on that too.

Honestly too risky for sellers on there now.
