RWS HIT - is it a Barnes made bullet

I have been using the RWS HIT 7x65r ammo for a while with no complaints. I understand that RWS use a Barnes made bullet, albeit nickel plated to make it look pretty.

last season I recovered a bullet from a Red / Sika cross. It’s on my desk (in a pot of other bits and pieces) and just doing normal Monday morning procrastination and noticed it has an “x” on the base.

Do Barnes bullets have such an “x”?

Not on a TTSX I recovered anyway.

HIT are made by Barnes as you suggest and nickel plated. That is from some very knowledgeable German hunters who I am with at this time.

Pretty sure that I have seen X's on the bullet base. Will check tonight.

Yes Barnes TTSXs do, however not always, it seems to be batch dependant if they have the X inscribed or not.

I use TTSX exclusively in .243, .270 and .308 and have reloaded thousands - never seen an X on the base

Here's a 270 bullet I recovered from the ground (shot at a target at 500m) doesn't have the X on the base but then again its not a 7mm bullet.

Does the LRX Barnes not have the X on the base?

I have only recovered two Barnes bullets, the 130 grains TSX doesn't have the X on the base , but the 110 grains TTSX does.
