To 6.5 or not to 6.5 that is the question!

Actually the PRC performance difference is being disputed by many chronographs . Backfire on u-tube has just recently posted some test results . TBF we must not trust ammo makers claims , personally i have recorded many to be well under their velocity claims in the past
But he does make absolutely rediculous remarks such as "a short barreled 65prc is no different to a long barreled 65 creed, so what's the point". Except that is exactly the point. Should you wish you can ballistically match a creed with 6" plus barrel Chopped off. Or compare apples to apples, run the same length and blow the creed out of the water in terms of velocity. 99% of his videos come across as click bait with very little actual decent information, just not so subtle adverts for his recoil pad.......

Just wondering, after 12 pages of this thread with detours via other chamberings (naturally, it's an SD thread, they do that) , on to politics national & international (again, it's an SD thread, it happens).........
Have you decided on whether to go for the 6.5 Creedmoor or not?
If you have, will it replace or be in addition to the .243w?
The first part is so true mate. How many times has someone simply asked for first hand opinions on a certain calibre, only to be given first hand opinions on a totally different one. Then a separate argument breaks out about that.

Agreed! I was given the option of 6.5 Creed or .243 for my first FAC application (had applied for .308, 6.5, 243). 6.5 has knocked down several deer very effectively for my freezer stock so no complaints for me and I can use it at range at Bisley, so I'm happy.

Regardless of all of the haters, it’s a very nice caliber. Used within its limits it’s great for shooting steel at long range, and most game you will likely encounter at sensible distances. All the while not punishing you with heavy recoil. I have an Anschutz 1782 chambered in 6.5 CM. And I just ordered a custom Heym in the same. So I guess I’ll have to grow two man buns.

Or one man bun and get your teeth whitened 😆😆

i have two creedmoors and unbelievably i have got taller and even better looking !

I did
Then I went 6.5 284

I might get a second rifle In 6.5 prc
6.5 PRC is a nice one. Only thing that’s kept me from getting one is concern about short barrel life. For purely hunting use, I’m sure it’s never going to be an issue. But I’m using my 6.5 for banging steel at long range too so I stuck with the Creedmoor. I think the 6.5 PRC might be one of the best modern all around hunting calibers there is.

Same route as me, I removed a 270 and got a 6.5 CR, I must admit that I don't regret it, at least for my use

So I have that to look forward to?😂. What rifles do you have chambered in the 6.5 Creedmoor?
a remmy 700 in a pse e-tac with a 20'' bartlein and aics mags for stalking and a prs comp gun with custom action, 24'' krieger barrel in an MDT acc stock the comp gun is the most accurate gun i have ever owned !

The creed will get you to the 1000 a lot easier than the .243 . It will no doubt hit harder on animals if you are using to top end weight of bullet. I had both a fast twist .243 and a creed after that,I much prefer my .260 but that’s not really fashionable with some. If your looking at a 6.5 go prc (depending on your range needs) if you are just stalking roe/fox/hinds say out to 250 odd the .243 will be more than fine. The creed is just a reinvention of the wheel to keep Hornady ticking along. All its hype and it still doesn’t do anything that any other calibre in that realm that’s been around for years does. The prc is a different Kettle of fish all together in the 6.5’s (they should if missed the creed out and went straight for the prc). I don’t have one or know anyone with one so I can’t say that much about it as I’m more a .260 ack/25.06/.270/.284/7mm rm type of bloke but most of them all do the same job. If you want to scratch a itch then go for it but I would be scratching elsewhere 😂 happy buying
It’s odd you say that as I very much enjoy shooting my .260 also… I may have considered 6.5PRC this time around? 10 years after owning my .260, but Sako don’t do that calibre in .TRG…

just had a new 6.5 rifle built my second one it’s an awesome calibre that’s why it has so many haters 😂
