MedCert 2024 waiting times?

My GP turned mine around recently in less than a day, although did charge a rather extorationate £120 - very happy with the service so did not complain

I do find it astonishing when I hear of others' taking months - just can't wrap my head around it

Many years ago, BASC set up a panel of GMC-registered medical practitioners prepared to help members get medical verification where their GP refused to engage in the firearms licensing process or wanted to charge an exorbitant fee to do so. The doctors on the BASC medical panel have helped thousands of members and we are now at the point that a dedicated service is needed, with training and quality controls in place, and we are now referring members to ShootCert, when we are asked for advice on alternatives to a GP.

Have you given up trying to get a ten year certificate?

Easy to understand given how busy GPs claim to be and it is not part of their NHS contract, then if you go the way of an alternative GP they have to get the registered GP to supply them with all the applicants medical records which may be a mixture of paper records and computer records depending on the applicants age.

Would be interesting to see if any statistics are collected by the police or home office on how many applicants use their registered GP and how many do not.

i used medcert in January this year and received it back in 2 months, would have been quicker if my doctors sent over 10 years records instead 8. Thames valley require 10 years of medical records apparently

Thanks mate, i am also in Thames Vally!

I just got back from the GP, i handed them my medical form but was met with the response of "sorry we don't do these anymore". MedCert it is!

Update:

35 days after Medcert contacted my GP they have finally responded and should send the information over next week!

Happy about this but it did take quite a while.

Anyone got much info on Thames Vally SGC application waiting times?

Update: I got my completed medical ticket! After 1 month and 15 days my GP handed over the information. And the next day MedCert sent me my completed ticket.

My question is now; as i have completed my medical form, how long do i have until i need to submit my application, as i need to contact references and figure out information it may take a while. How long is my medical ticket valid for?

(i'm in thames Vally police district)
I would be thankful for any advice or timeframes!

I believe there’s no time frame but I’ve heard 6 months.
