.308 is a great first CF calibre - so flexible with ammo choice and usage scenarios. Try and get a Tikka or older Sako secondhand.
Well I've shot 5 deer today, all with my "awful" old P-H. Would they be any deader had I used a Tikka, or just more expensive? No ..they are awful.
2nd hand Tikka![]()
Never said you couldn't shoot deer with them but still awful.Well I've shot 5 deer today, all with my "awful" old P-H. Would they be any deader had I used a Tikka, or just more expensive?
Well they do have their little idiosyncrasies, I'll grant you that.Never said you couldn't shoot deer with them but still awful.
Not much difference really. I looked at both, safety has been improved, lug in the bolt is different, slightly nicer stock and trigger adjustable.Hi guys, wondered if any one could recommend a good first stalking rifle. I don’t have a massive budget and for now just need something to get me out. Iv got a .308 with suppressor on my FAC. I saw a Sauer 100 classic xt with 8x56 Schmidt and bender scope and a moderator on for £800-£900 the other day. which has since sold. Would something like this be a good purchase?
Anyone know the difference between the 100 and the 101?
There's nothing more dull than "normal"."Nick" likes normal don't you @Nickb ? Anything(one) different should be ridiculed as such until they become "normal" too ..![]()

Great choice in the 1960sget a nice old Parker hale and buy the 4x32 swaro in sale here, then learn to get close, develop the field craft skills whilst appreciating classic qualities
Spend the rest in your dsc’s and some stalking
Once you know what you’re doing, see if changing kit is something you want to do.
Just my view.
Still isGreat choice in the 1960s
I'm sure there's lots of places you could get that done if you wanted to, or just do it yourself.Any ideas where I can dye my hair rainbow coloured![]()
