Metropolitan Police trial new style certificates

And satisfy yourself that you are complying.
Yes. I see no disparity there.
Me? I fill out the transfer of ammo on Table 2, and take a photo of the page for my records.
Where in the guidance does it tell you that a FAC holder should ever write on their -or somebody else's certificate - except to sign it when it was issued?
I don't suppose anyone cares so long as common sense and the spirit of the rules are applied.

It says sales/transfer of firearms or ammunition must be recorded on the certificate.

In the former case, I believe there is no keed to record the sale and in the latter you notify the police in precisely the same way as you are currently required to.

It would be recorded digitally, in exactly the same way as all your other sensitive data is.
But how would I do that as a non dealer ?

So recently sold a gun and some ammo to someone who has the new style size certificate

It was a pain in the xxxx to record all my details especially name and address in such a tiny box and then worse for the ammo

What was more frustrating was , I recorded my name and address on the ammo page but a dealer just recorded their name and no address in that box.

I’m all for change for the good but come on !

I’ve just received my new FAC back from the Met following a variation and it’s in A4 size so either the trial has finished or I got lucky!
I'm fairly sure those mini certs have been or are being phased out again, for many of the reasons folk have raised. What we really need are photocards for buying ammo and proving you have FAC etc (which you can carry in your pocket) and a paper part for buying or selling firearms. Why in 2024 were still expected to cart about out of date certificates just higlbgihts how out of date UK firearms law is.

They're less than ideal.

For SGC it makes sense, but not for FAC..... It's a nightmare to write ammo onto to and even harder to read what's been written! How that is even half the amount of space required for someone shooting a lot is beyond me! Luckily between variation and new ticket coming through was only a few months, so not filled up yet!View attachment 369784
Anyone who shoots a lot reloads. If not you just get an FAC reprint when full.,.

Not always.

I have the kit to reload .308, but when I can buy Hornady .308 at £23 for 20 when I am at Bisley, I can't see the point of reloading at the moment. Be tough to make any significant saving on that.

I'll usually get through 60 - 100 in a half day session with friends at Bisley.

You missed the second part of my post then 😂.

Also I am reloading .308 for about 40p a round (not that I expect others to be able to 😉)

Claws!! :old: I did say it was with friends though! :finger:

Ok, I'll bite and ask how do you manage it? I'm looking at 11p for a primer, 40p for a bullet, and 32p for powder, so 83p even with free cases on hand.
Sierra 2155 bought at 26p each
Primers bought at 3.5 p each
Benchmark bought at £5.95/lb as clearance stock.
GGG brass given by club member who doesn’t reload.

I stocked up a long time before prices got silly.

I can reload even cheaper with Winchester soft points I bought in the same clearance sale at 6p each 😝

Wow. It'll come as a very painful day when you run out of something.

Which, as you are shooting a lot, will come round sooner than you'd like.

Yes and no,

I’ve got about 40 tubs of clearance powder and 25000 small /large pistol and small/large rifle to keep me going, stored between me and friends who have FAC but don’t reload to stay below limits.

But, didn’t pick up anything in the H4350 burn rate so loading Staball 6.5 in the creedmoor and 6.5x55 at current prices.

Also, I’ve just bought a 300 PRC, Lapua cases at £1.75 each, magnum primers at £.15, 225 eld-m at £.46 and 81 grains of RS76 at £115kg.

So modern prices won’t come as a shock…
