Hi,

Bought a PARD Night Stalker 4k LRF 100mm yesterday, doesn't have the VCSEL (laser IR) so it turns out that its sadly almost useless beyond 120M with the base 8x magnification at night!

Photo of the IR module, difficult pic to take as the surface is reflective.

Back for a refund, need to find something else or import one.

I know we have exchanged messages over PM. But I would like to add this is a photograph of the illuminator on my Nightstalker bought from Amazon.

If someone with knowledge can confirm what kind of illuminator this will be?

Looks like the VCSEL to me. See post 24 here:

Pard night stalker 4k

I've only had the MK1 DS35 previously so was shocked at how bad the LED is in comparison, really struggles just beyond 100M, rabbits on a 160M embankment that I usually shoot were very difficult to see clearly and not too much precipitation/mist when I tried.

I had Nightstalker 4K 70LRF on test.
With 940nm IR.
I was able to see and identify fox at 300m, but would only dare to shot it at maybe 150m.

I live in EU, and it is possible that IR in my unit was VCSEL.

What stopped you shooting that far?

I was more than confident with my .223 and 5he original DS35 with VSCEL

The day image is a lot better with the nightstalker I have to admit.

How did you find the standard daylight image out of interests?

I’m really pleased with mine I have to admit and the VCSEL Illuminator is excellent at night for what I need.

I would just buy directly from Amazon. It would appear they are supplying the VCSEL without worry

I was able to identify fox by its movement, eyeshine and its reaction to lip squeak.
But this is not enough because I could not see clear outlines of the body.

I know this is not the topic of this thread, but Alpex 4K is at least one if not two levels better than Nightstalker 4K.

Daytime image is good, possibly more grainy at 8x base mag than the 70mm version at 5.6x, based on Youtube video only which isn't worth a lot. The field of view is very narrow but not unmanageable, for example (and apologies as I haven't had a chance to get the tape measure out yet and do this more scientifically), but at 100M my FOV was roughly a 10 foot galv field gate with the 2 concrete posts. Colours slightly washed out compared to the Alpex 4k but the Alpex has an OLED display I think?

OK, thanks to Amazon I now have a PARD Night Stalker 4k LRF 100mm with VSCEL IR illuminator, the difference in comparison to the UK spec LED version is truly outstanding, many thanks to scotch_egg for this tip. Ordered on Monday 9th Dec, arrived today (on a Sunday, by DHL!)
