.22LR Moderator

Morning All,

I currently have a CZ 455 in .22LR with the standard factory moderator, and am using Winchester 44gr Subsonic max.
It takes the crack out of report, but isn't as quiet as I would like, so wondered if anyone had any any recommendations for alternative models and brands out there?

I saw a thread on SD a few weeks back about the Winchester .22 subsonics, and the issues people are having with some of them, so also didn't know if I would be better off just changing the ammunition I use?

Many thanks in advance,

Sandy

winchester have issues with the subsonic 22lr before you apply for a variation to change your moderator by some different sub sonic 22 ,if you were closer i could give you a box of norma subs to try as they are good <they are made by rws> just try some other subsonic and perhaps give your existing moderator a good clean.

I use an atec wave and its great.

I've also used Winchester subs and they were shi1te. every second shot was going super sonic. Try get a box of Eley/RWS/Norma/CCI subs before buying a new mod.

Ok, will try Norma/RWS subs instead then and see how I get on :)

Mod is pretty clean, was very clogged when I bought it so has been completely stripped and cleaned since then so don't think that is going to be too much if an issue.

Correct - change your ammunition - changing the moderator won't make the slightest bit of difference

I bought 1500 winchesters a few months ago but never tried them until today (they are pash!!! My .410 groups tighter) I shall be returning the 1450 ti try another type, bloody Shame them old winnys were a great bullet

try and find norma subsonic, they are cheaper than the rws subs BUT are made on the same production line and use the same components as rws <same case,primer/powder and bullet>just a different card board box !!

I bought 1000 norma subs and they were all over the place with my Tikka T1X - changed them for SK standard match plus with much improved results

RWS Field Line, always sub sonic and very accurate in my 457. Also any decent moderator will be as good as the next with .22

I’m on a tikka tx1, my options are rws? Cci? Remi? Or the ones I’m taking back
I tried the rws in my tikka t1x and groups were just under an inch at 50 yards which wasn't great.
Cci subsonic and cci segmented subsonic will shoot under a half inch so I use those.
Target ammo will shoot better again.
