Fox control - Which .223 Tikka T3X model most suitable and which moderator ?

I dont blame you and If you saw me you would find the T shirt idea very funny as I'm far from macho lol

Personally I wish I could get on with a light rifle as after 3 or 4 hours my skinny shoulders know about carrying a heavy rifle...but I can shoot well with heavy rifles so no real option for me lol
I accept that a heavy rifle is going to allow for greater accuracy at longer distances. I'll get my hands on a few shortly and see how they feel, that said I aim to get them to come to me rather than chase after them further than is absolutely necessary 😀 Having spent considerable time with light .177, .22 and .22RF I can function ok lighter. T3X Lite .223 with scope, Ir and Mod is not going to be featherlite and clamped in the Ricon I feel fairly confident. At least they are easily moved on if I find an issue with the setup. I am not the tradesman who is going to blame the tools. 🤥

I despair at what a bunch of light weights we are...oooh the big heavy gun

I have a T3X Super Varmint, 20 inch, with a Stalon Mod in .243 with an Alpex on top. It gets carried miles and Im skinny. I just hate light rifles so put up with it but like all rifles ...I do my bit and the result is the same 👍
Fair comments and everyone finds what works for them generally I suppose 👌

Get what feels right for you mate. Im special in a window licking kind of way so best ignore my advice  As mentioned I like heavy rifles from a shooting perspective rather then anything else...wish this wasnt the case 👍

T3X lite will do what you need. I don't see the point in a varmint barrel when you're only taking a couple of shots at a time and carrying rifle around. A scope and moderator adds a fair bit of weight anyway.
Couple of shots on a good night ! 😅 The 'Lite' does seem very popular if not for everyone. I will buy a camo or the laminate just because of the look and it will probably depend on what is available when the variation come through on the FAC. I am really not sure wether to buy new or used ?

Agree re a nice stock. The laminate is very fetching especially with stainless IMO. I think stainless is well worth it in our wet climate too.

I'm also all for a good 2nd hand deal if you can find one.

I like my t3x lite - it's the cerakote rough tech model and it has since suffered a lot of abuse without any complaint. 1 in 8 and very accurate - I put 20ish rounds through it in quick succession the other night and saw no change in POI.

It's no lightweight with the NV scope on it mind.

Leaning towards Laminate rather than the Lite. which is hollow polymer of course. Laminate 7lb 5oz. Lite 6lb 61/4oz. Super Varmint 8lb 6oz.

If I was buying a new tikka I'd buy this model with the green stock.
It has an adjustable cheekpiece, stainless cerakoted barrel and action. Large bolt knob and the barrel is a little heavier than the lite model.

I agree it has all you need - still considering the weight options model dependant.

Tikka T3 Lite Roughtec with stainless 1:8 twist barrel and a Stalon mod. Stock is great, solid with no play in the forend and is very grippy. Barrel is medium profile so accurate without being too heavy. 1:8 twist will stabilise heavier bullets so good for muntjac as well as foxes.

Don't have a Tikka. But do have a .223 with varmint barrel with 1in 12 twist.

Had the barrel shortened to 18". Fitted with Ase Utra SL5 mod. Which puts the weight more or less to that when it was 24inch barrel.

GRS berserker stock so fully adjustable.

Handles 55gn bullets with no complaints from recipients out to 200yds. Most of my shots are taken within 100yds though.

I cover a lot of ground on foot when out and have it slung on a niggeloh biathlon sling when mooching about.

58 years old and it doesn't bother me carrying it and the sticks and thermal. I am no unit

But that's me. You need to get what suits you with the shooting you do.

All very good suggestions and advice, the only thing I’d add is don’t go for a 1:12 go for a 1:8 because if you have to shoot copper in the future it’ll take the bullet stability issues out of the equation for the heavier bullets.

All Tikkas guaranteed 1 moa so rifle type, weight, barrel length etc. not really relevant for a foxing rifle other than just your personal preferences and what you fancy. They will all go bang and drop foxes out to extended range.

Totally agree. Not sure who has the largest on the shelf stock of T3X's ( Maybe SGC - Exeter ) but I plan to visit and get a feel for them 1st hand. I was thinking Laminate lite .223 even though 14 3/4oz heavier than the standard Lite, the stocks are at least decent and solid.
