Which 223.

Not sure why the need to buy new, find a cheap Tikka T3/T3x or Howa 1500 with a fast twist barrel and spend the savings on upgrades (better stock/scope/good mounts for scope)
For sure. Buying a used Tikka seems like the way to go here.

I got a CZ 527 night sky in the hand today and was going to buy it but noticed right away the rifle was not straight in the stock!!

The kid at the shop said “once you get the scope on, you won’t even notice it!”

Had to tell him I’d already noticed it and asked what they would do if it don’t shoot right pressing on one side … he just stood there with no suggestion.

Ended up walking out.

That’s me done with CZ rifles, the quality control just seems a bit naff.
Which shop is that??

Seems to be one to avoid!

I use a Tikka and for the cost and straight out of box accuracy they're awesome but for our pro-hunt kangaroo's we use the Howa's.Extremely accurate and at the price we don't give a toss if it gets smashed around spotlighting out of a vehicle every night.

hard question
the way lead rounds are going probably a 1:8 just to chuck heaver copper
but for what im using in it and if i can still get the 53gr VMAX then i would stick to a 1:12
sorry not been much help there have i
it all depends what round and what you want to use it for as well
mine is a foxing rifle so the only way i might go is lighter/quicker bullets
if i wanted it for muntjac then i might go for a quicker twist barrel and slightly heaver bullets (only 60-65 gr)

I found a Tikka T3x Lite synthetic stainless today not that far away with the 1:8 twist barrel.

Phoned my mate who is friendly with an RFD who's even closer and he has sorted it out to have it delivered over to us.

So have paid him and it's on the way :)

That's it sorted, Tikka T3x lite SS, in 223 with 1:8 twist!!

Let's hope it shoot's everything I want :) I shot my mates one and loved it.

Exactly what I picked up a couple of weeks ago. Just shooting factory for now but will end up reloading at some point. Mine loves Sako Gamehead in 55gn if it's any help.

Tikka, Sako and Sauer. If/when Bergara get round to making a 223 I'd have that over Tikka as I prefer the Bergara stock. Also buy used to save some cash to spend on a good optic.

Going to give the Hornady superformance 53gr v-max a try I think … read they do well with the 1:8 twist as well.

All the rifles mentioned will do the job, so then it is down to budget and what feels right for you.
I do love my Schmeisser M4FL 14.5" barrel, it shoots Federal 55g Nosler tips without any fuss.

Now this interests me.
I have an open slot for a .223 with moderator right now and I was going to just build another T3.
But then I thought why not an AR chassis?
I’m trying to workout if it would be more hassle than it was worth if I took it out for the odd muntjac

2 foxes down so far 🤪

You will have no problem at all with knocking Muntjac's or charlie over.
Once I found a round that suited the Schmeisser at 100y, I put all the info into Strelok Pro. After a bit of playing about with different points of zero on the software, I found a zeroing range that would give me the flattest trajectory out to 200y and zeroed it at that.

I should have said that its important to chrono the rounds to get the genuine muzzle velocity before working out zeroing range.

Glad you found a weapon that you are happy with.
Did you use the Hornady 53g rounds?

Ye I bought a box of superformance 53gr vmax and another box of hornady 55gr vmax.

I’m using a Hik micro Alpex scope, I’ve not shot a grouping as such yet, just zero’d it and once on target taken it foxing.

Think I’ve shot about 12-13 of the box of superformance so far, we used about 10 zeroing cos my mate pressed the wrong button 🤣

I’m not sure I’m going to spend hours sitting shooting groups, it seems to work very well as is so prob just carry on using it for foxing 👍🏻
