Stay safe out there chaps!

Good luck for your speedy recovery, watch out for that Welsh blood it'll make you speak funny.

Nadolig Llawen.

Started off as a very pleasant morning stalk.
Now in hospital with pretty serious knife stick injury (self inflicted) and considerable blood loss after walking half a mile carrying all my kit, unable to staunch the flow.
It's a dangerous world out there! Stay safe, chaps.
Hope you are ok, if you get stuck and need rifle, carcass etc collecting or extracting give me a call.

Hoping you'll have a quick and full recovery, and that the inevitable dent to confidence which comes with knifing oneself, passes quickly.

When I did it, there was someone else there. Unfortunately, apparently not to help much but just there to criticise, offer helpful knife-handling advice and take the p155.

Speedy recovery. Did something similar by the sound of it a few years ago skinning a stag. 9 stitches and some glue later.....

Yes, I had 1st aid kit. It was very quickly overwhelmed, and there was a limit to what I could do with one functional hand.
Get well soon Tim. :tiphat:
This is exactly the VERY FRANK conversation I had with my DSC2 phone interview! Not the time for being graphic as Tim need to get out of hospital.
Regards from Essex

goes back to always making sure someone know where you are stalking. We go to the same places again and again and nothing happens or the brain says nothing will happen! 6 weeks ago I was busy trying to sneak around two roe to get into a safe shooting position. Watching the deer and not where my foot was goping. Fell into a hole. Nothing new there as the ground was mounded and many holes left. Fell forward thinking nothing of it. But felt a little tap on the back of my leg. thought something had fallen out of my pocket. Went to stand up and it hit me . The pain in my lower left leg was incredible.Thinking what the hell have I done, then looking towards the deer to see if they were laughing at me.!! Struggled even to hobble on it, so strapped the sticks to it to help. A painful hour later and I am at my pickup. Thanking my lucky stars !!! mmmm !!! that I drive an auto. evntually got home, straight to docs who put me straight to A+E who were waiting for me. Leg was three times the size it should be by now. Thought it was broken, but on examination it was a torn muscle at the back of my leg. Big moon boot and crutches for 2/3 weeks. Moral of these stories, always have someone know hwere you are and always plan for the worst situation. Never say it won't happen to me. I am always careful. Doesn't need to be your fault!!!...J

I fire up a Bivvystik.1734359235625.webp & keep it charged.

I had a near miss with a knife recently and it could have been a whole lot worse. Spent the next week looking at first aid kits and bought off @Rocky Peak Outdoors. Included a SAM tourniquet and added celox bandage. We spend silly money on scopes, thermals, etc but not on first aid kits. One in the car and one on me from now on.
Glad your safe and hope you make a speedy recovery.

Hope you make a speedy recovery VSS, A warning to others though how quickly things can go horribly wrong, Ive been there myself at 1:30 in the morning whilst out foxing
