Haenal Jager 10 Wont Group

Evening world.

I purchased a Jager 10 some 6 months ago in 6.5 Creedmoor.

I cannot get the thing to group, and consistantly get outliers fliers.
The attached photos are of continued trials trying to find something that will shoot.

The tests wrere done a 60 yards with a mix of factory loads and home loads.

i also did a ladder test, which was no better.

The groups are 5 shot groups with the rifle cooling down between groups.
I have stripped it down, cleaned it, re fouled trhe barrel and still no improvement.

Factory loads 143 eldx down to 120 grain Nossler and S&B.

Just wondering if anyone has had any thoughts or do I have a Friday afternoon barrel?

Have you checked and the screws are tight, swapped out the scope and mounts and shot it with and without moderator? Can you shoot better groups with other rifles and have you had someone else shoot it?

On the top photo one half is marked 243, these are all 5 shot groups as well rotating the rifles between sets. They are all bullet on bullet ish. Other people have shot it with similar results. I have stripped it down a number of times cleaned the barrel, checked everything obvious, then rechecked and checked again. It’s weird.

6.5 Creedmoor could be the problem, what twist has it got? Is the crown showing any damage when looking with a magnifying glass?

Have you tried a grouping session when the barrel is dirty?
I have a 308 that will not group well until its has fired 20+ rounds

I had a rifle that I struggled with. I put it down to me and it being my first center fire. The stock was too low and I had to hover my head a bit to get on target. After raising the stock with a bit of foam and tape, I got on to a constant 10shot group under an inch.

First thing I would do,

Get rid of the Dalmation target.
Then go through the other advice above posts.

At this stage is where I would say the rifle has most likely shown its true potential - assuming you are a decent shot yourself of course. But a couple of observations; let the barrel cool between shots, not groups. Don’t keep cleaning it. Don’t start mixing in home loads before you find a base grouping ability from at least 5 types of factory ammo of good quality (RWS, Norma, Sako,) and in weights matching twist rate. If you tried a heavy copper round, then privi and S&B and a long eldx, then a bunch of home loads it might not like the powder choice of, you could end up with what you are seeing - by stroke of unluck/bad choices. Some people try 5+ types of ammo when they buy a new rifle, but are so put off buy the cost of buying 5 boxes where only 5 of each are tested for grouping, that they buy 5 cheap ammo types without thinking about the entire purpose of the exercise. I’ve seen this first hand many times, people buying federal, privi, s&b, Norma whitetail (budget line), and not being able to group well. Also seen people struggle with a .243, not realising it can’t group 100g pills.

You can live with it and stick with chest shots inside 100-150yds, or buy a new rifle (which is what I would do). Or, keep testing…

Could just be a lemon from an otherwise good brand of rifles.

But, if taken apart, checked and put back, cleaned and fouled again; tested with different types of quality ammo by a good shooter. Then you can likely start to draw the conclusion you don’t want to hear.

How fast are you shooting your groupings, could just be heat.

Other than that, could be anything tbh. Personally anything g you aim at is dead with those groupings so wouldn't worry much.

Could be anything, but i would stretch it out to 100m, and check groupings then. It is after all a brand new barrel and may need a bit more through it before settling.

Yes. It has a 1 in 8 twist which is pretty standard. It has had a match crown put on it in an attempt to sort the issue out. Any no damage to the crown. That I can see.

Yes tried clean, dirty, clean the fouling shots. All makes no real difference.

Yes, in short that’s pretty much we’re in at.
I have just had it rechecked and re crowned this morning. So it has one last chance. Unfortunately I don’t think you can even rebarrel these due to the way the action and barrel are put together!
I hear what you say about shooting it, but unless I can thumbhole or better at 60 yds I won’t trust it.

Rifle was left to cool between groups and these were at 60 yds. I just don’t trust it at the moment. I’ve had it re crowned today to see if that improves things

Bipod on the metal bed? That’s going to be bouncing around unless you have your left hand holding it down on top of the scope.

Get rid of the bipod and test it off bags only, and hold the forend
