Advice Needed with Swarovski Scope Repair....

Hiya, Hopefully someone can assist with this one ...

I've had to give up my shooting due to illness, and went to check my Sworovski Habicht scope which has lain in the cabinet for maybe 2 years, before listing it on here... ...had a look through to see this!!! Hundreds of little droplets of what seems to be oil?? I dont think it's water, as they dont move when I shake the scope. Other than the "droplets" it's clear as a bell., so, my question, I forget the age of the scope , as it was a gift many years ago, it's in tip top condition, so, I'm wondering if its worth sending to Swarovski for repair/service....??

Help and advice is much appreciated guys...:)

A quick email to Swarovski with the serial number would tell you if it was still in warranty, I would suspect it is and definitely worth sending to them.

That almost looks like shattered glass?

Either way - Swarovski will be able to fix it and their help and customer service is some of the best I’ve ever recieved.

I almost felt guilty at the repairs and service they have provided for free over the years - although I guess the purchase price helps cover that!

Regards,
Gixer

While you're waiting for a reply from swarovski, stick it on a warm radiator or in the airing cupboard, you might find it clears which would suggest regassing, although I think the shattered lens theory is plausible

Hiya, I dont think it is....you can still see right through the glass...and its still extremely clear.... I emailed Swarovski this evening, and got a ticket number back almost immediately... Years ago, they repaired a pair of binos for me, they came back better than new....wasn't cheap, but well worth the cost....:)
I'll report back when I hear from them...

I live only 6 hours long drive away from Swarovski facilities in Austria and today I have allready received an email stating that they have received my scope and they will look into it.
I also received a seperate email stating they will provide me with a spare bikini scope covers and a spare windage elevation screw on cap as the original is damaged.
Their service is incredible and second to none.

Never hesitate to get in touch with Swarovski if you have a problem with their products. I have had first class service every time, old, second hand, they will sort it out if it needs doing. With electronics now, things may be different?

BC.

I think that’s the lens coating crystallising / breaking up.
Aha...never thought of that, so, hopefully it will be done under warranty...:)

I got an email this morning too, telling me the scope is a 2003, so, still covered under warranty for materials, and they say, IF their are any costs involved, which they dont think their will be, I will get a quote before they go ahead. They also sent a form for me to fill in, and send to Swarry in England, they do the forms etc and will send it over to Austria, total repair window is around 2 months...:)

Great service so far, I'll keep the thread updated with events.

Thanks so much guys for the advice etc etc...:)

They have been excellent when I dropped my EL’s and the rangefinder wasn’t working correctly - it was repaired without charge - they really are top of the tree with customer service.

You’re fortunate, sent one of mine back last year, made in 2005 with a broken crosshairs and was told it only has a 2 year warranty! Had to pay £180 to get it repaired.

I had an identical issue recently with my EL's which are over 10 years old. I dropped them into the Swarovski offices at Gatwick, they were serviced and returned within 6 weeks, with no charge. As per the many previous posts, an excellent customer service, that has encouraged me to invest in several of their scopes!

Hi Guys, Just a wee update on the Swarry scope I sent off to be looked at. It's now in Austria, got there end of last week, and they will contact me re repair/Service on it....:)

All looking good so far...:)

Hiya, Just had a letter from Swarovski, with an estimate on the scope....it's seemingly a 2006 dated one.

See the picture below, of the estimate, the new Recticle is being supplied FOC and a 20 min inspection of the scope too...BUT, for cleaning , stripping etc, the want £103.18 an hour, for two hours... which I do tend to think is rather expensive...BUT, I will be paying for the work to be done, as wirthout the remedial work, its just a paper weight....then the scope will be put up for sale on here...:)

Thanks for all the advice and help guys, it really is appreciated.

I bought my scope off egun. It was supposed to be in new condition but unfortunately for me it was photographed rather "skillfuly". When I got it I noticed a nasty scratch on the ocular lens. Also some damage on windage adustment knob and damaged tube from improper mounting.
So I had no choice but to send the scope for service. I paid 540 € for the scope and then got a similar quote to Norrie1956 from Swarovski. 325 € for cleaning and replacing the damaged lens. It's great that they are able to sort things out when something goes wrong with their products and I appreciate them taking care of their products and costumers long after their products were put on the market. It's a leftover from a bygone era when things were made to last not like today when stuff is made to be used for 2 years and then thrown in the bin.
It's also not their fault someone screwed me by selling me a damaged scope. I do think however I will think twice before buying used scope products again as it can get pretty expensive very quickly.

In 2025 £103.18 an hour, then for two hours = £206.36 take off the VAT of 20%ish = £165.08. Then shipping of £15 IMO very cheap from Austria to the UK.
I finished working in 2018 and my hourly rate then was 70€ and that without all the overheads of a large company so I feel they are being very fair on their pricing. I know the UK worker generally earns less in general than mainland Europe so it perhaps looks expensive but that's not Swarovski's fault.
