3d printed DIY quad sticks

My wooden quad sticks are great but they can be noisy and don't allow for any lateral adjustment of rifle to track deer that move.

I've had 4 green b&q garden canes lying around for years since I decided that I needed quad sticks and then promptly bought the wooden ones.

I've mulled over the design for a few weeks in the odd spare moments I've found, ordered some nice fasteners, and finally got the bottom hinge modelled this morning. I then started the 3d printer to do the top cradles and bottom hinge in rubber and returned this afternoon to the completed parts.

I assembled everything, cut the canes to length and glued the rod ends into the canes.

I'm looking forward to testing them out. I'll then do a few tweaks to the design. I can then maybe share the 3d models with anyone that wants to 3d print their own, or sell kits for a modest price.

Hello, That looks realy good , My first stick were garden poles and a strong elastic band and a leather yoke that fitted on the pole tops from a PW member but your design looks much better, one thing i would say is to make the Yoke more U shaped so your rifle holds better, I would certainly buy one and the bottom caps, I prefer just 2 pole sticks

The 3D printing is the clever bit, take them upmarket you can buy carbon fibre tube now in a range of sizes 👍

The huge disadvantage of the Monkey Stick is no lateral movement, your design solves that problem and in the event of a mishap, repairs are cheap.

I suspect they will sell well!

Thanks, I was thinking that the connections may need to be screwed rather than glued for easy cane replacements.

Thanks @Flash G 74 that's a good point re rear yoke. Will evaluate!
Hello, As i mentioned i only use 2 pole sticks as it is only PCP Air Rifle ratting but being a bit oldy it helps to steady the rifle and take a shot, Been like this for years, But those who use the big rifles a 4 pole stick set sounds better for shooting , Check out the spare Yokes for the Vanguard Quests , Although these sticks swivel with a similar size Yoke it would not mater with your garden pole design, Once you get your 3 D design finalised i would be interested in a Yoke as i still have 2 poles and would make a good spare set, What is the diameter of your garden poles ??

These look spot on 👌.... only suggestion is maybe like the popular brand they resemble, the connections to the yokes be "geared" so they hold the flat level and doesn't fall away like the bushwear ones do.

Thanks, that is a concern for me because they do have to be manipulated to level.

Hi, thank you & yes I used Solidworks - now also available to the general public (Solidworks for makers).
I'll take a look at that. I have available access to 2024/25 via dassalt systems business start up program, but that comes to an end next month. It's not worth me buying a seat at the moment, just too busy to make use of it, but I'm going to have covert anything done on '24 to .step or .iges for future use. Pain in the rear end, especially as I've one project with maybe 150 parts mated up, some with many linear component patterns
