Out last night.

My personal thing. Stopped a few years ago. I know all the thing of others will raise young.
I also have terriers which I have been brought up with but finding a earth and if it's on your ground is easier Said than done.
My time will be spent making highseats and a small defender project next few monthsView attachment 411697

I respect your views Bumpy - but to me to kill them for 9 months of the year and then have 3 off - especially when ground nesting birds have broods is not the way - 1 fox left on your ground can wreck everything you have been trying to protect for the last few years

Always laugh when people say " have you dealt with the cubs " if only it was that easy.
What if the earth is off your ground or it can't be found like in a big bank of gorse.
Even when found trying to dig cubs is a nightmare , been there got the T shirt.

I went back to that small holding tonight and it was much quieter. The dogs must be inside.
I was on high ground and it was a hour before one showed up but it went the opposite way and over the hill . It was a small fox.
The new born lambs are outside as well.
I'll see if it develops!

#25 for me.
A barren vixen, I get the feeling this is the fox I missed about a month ago, she was quite a switched on lass, caught up with her last night when I was sitting over bait in a high seat, but was wound round like a corkscrew and didn't risk a shot, went back on foot tonight, she busted me again but sitting looking at me on the edge of a wood at 175 yards was her downfall.
Old Googley Eyes..

My other mate missed 2 at our place last week too mate !!!
That might be the pair you've just shot then.

Farmer just messaged me saying a fox walked past his patio window last night at 11pm so another one to target , unfortunately it's rain tonight

#23 this morning.
Strange morning.
Waiting for the rain to stop I moved my car for my wife and bugger, the check engine light comes on so I buzz off to a friend to have it read.
P0096 turns out to be a temp sensor on mine but which one! There's two.
After some studying there is one in the MAF and one in the manifold and apparently that can get fould up thanks to the stoopid egr valve!
So I removed it... Look at the poop on it!
Cleaned it and refitted it. Hopefully that's all it was.

That done and the rain gone I grabbed my 3030 dialled the scope up two turns and took some sub sonics.
It was as I got to where I saw a fox last week when bugger me along came Charlie on a bank side oblivious to my presence and I'm stuck out like a sore thumb!
I managed to slip the rifle from my shoulder, pause as he stops and move again when he does. With the hammer back and tracking him he stops at what looks to be 60 yards.
At the shot he bites at his side and runs off over the hill.
Jess goes into action and I watch as she locates the spot and follows a blood line over the hill.
It's not long and I can hear her ripping into it. It was dead, she would be making a different sound if it was alive!
The bullet had passed perfectly where I aimed.

Shot with donated bullets and a pinch of unique. Even the powder was salvaged from destruction after a hand in at my local shop!
Thanks to all those that sent unwanted bullets, they are being put to good use.IMG_20250323_113605.webp
