Hi everyone

Looking at options for sleds, mainly roe but to handle fallow too

How does the jet sled jr handle fallow? Although can't seem to find one in stock anywhere to be fair

Going to double up as carcass tray in the boot of the car

I have both the larger and the smaller (bought from Stirling Gundogs at the Stalking Show) and to be frank, the larger gets no use! In my current Discovery Sport layout the Junior fits perfectly and it doubles as the carcass tray as well as an extraction tool. I've fitted the runners and these have nuts which seal so no leaks. I've also reinforced the front so I can pull it out with the capstan winch. Biggest fallow in the Junior so far was 75kg larder weight!

Are they rigid enough that you can pick the tray up with a fallow inside and it not flex all over the place?

They are fairly rigid but as you can see from the photos, they do twist a bit. However, my days of singly-handed lifting of ~80kgs into the back of the truck are behind me so I now winch it into the back up a ladder ramp (second and 4th photo) provided by Animal Transit Boxes :thumb:

I bet you can rivet some tubing to the sides (the U channel) if you find it flexes. Of course best if it's continuous (protecting the corners), but should work with separate pieces also.
 
I regularly carry reds in my large jetsled from pick up to farm shop etc. Not on my own I hasten to add. Plenty rigid enough.

Get runners, go for plain black. The camo film just scratches and peels off and becomes harder to keep clean where it’s lifting. And get a cover - really helps keep them clean if you’re dragging through cover or towing behind a quad.

I’m sure junior will be fine for fallow but go for large if you’re shooting any reds. I can get 2 in the back of my pick up or trailer side by side:

I've been running the bigger one for more than 15 years I've had to many to count big reds in mine, they do twist when under extreme weight I've had reds up to 165kg clean weigh in mine what weight they where actually before that Stage I've no idea but I winched them in and still it rocks, I've put on the runners which work well, when you get a hole or crack which you will if it's used for the bigger stuff for long enough, they are simple to fix with a plastic heat gun welder.

I'm thinking like mentioned above if roe is your primary the smaller model, for anything larger I work with red sika and fallow and I honestly wouldn't want it any smaller, but I guess it depends also what you have to carry it pickup or regular 4x4 or similar, mine is the jet sled one if I remember.

Yes sold out of most of our products at the very excellent Stalking Show. Order placed with Eagle Claw in States, awaiting shipping costs and any impact of Trump Tariff war.
I do have 2 JS1 in Black but no Juniors….. PM me if anyone j retested in them as adjusted website to show 0 to avoid any issues of ATC/ Black….
 
Not had a jet sled but they do look very robust. I went for a large trace sled, put the runners on it fantastic bit of kit had a few large Fallow in it happy enough with build quality, should have got a sled years ago👍
 
I have used a JS1 with runners for Fallow extraction from very rough ground. It is stiff enough to get into car even with a v. large Fallow buck. I did find it hard work to lift the leading edge onto the tailgate ledge and then lift the rear of the sled with most of the faijllow deadweight into OK the vehicle. Not a big issue with Fallow does or younger smaller bucks. I think it's a great bit of kit and worth getting the elasticated cover as keeps all contents on board on very rough, mogul field like ground.

For those looking for a cover watch this space, they should be available soon for around £30, top quality bit of kit, I have field tested one, keeps carcass clean and will stop the flies getting in as the warmer months start.

I have the larger Jetsled. I find the extra length is an advantage when lifting one end into the back of the car. With seats down in a 17 Xtrail I keep the Jetsled crossways behind the front seats with 2 inches to spare, with a cut down IBC in the boot space. The larger Jetsled means that with the exception of reds no portion of a fallow or sika sticks out to catch occasional branches etc 2 fallow/ sika fit comfortably, but you do notice the weight. On wet ground it virtually floats.
