Kent based what to do next?

agree most deer are over Tunbridge Wells, area I am told, however you have plenty of farm land around Ramsgate, that grow brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli all of which are good for pigeons and rabbits.
Yeah general vermin stuff should hopefully be easy it’s when you get into deer territory things seem to get a lot harder

Where win Kent are you? Plenty of fallow in West Kent especially near Sussex and into Sussex.

The secret to getting somewhere to shoot is to not overlook smaller places and to mention deer stalking at every opportunity! No matter who you are talking to find a way to drop it into a conversation after a few minutes.

If you approach someone you don't know and want something they'll be inclined to say no. Most people do even if in hindsight they wanted to say yes. However, if you've already broken the ice and have some rapport and trust built up then you have a much better chance of getting a yes.
In Ramsgate so deer are out of the question around here, I’m hoping once I have my fac and calibres I want it’ll be a lot easier, I’m probably going to start with foxing as they seem to cause a lot of grief although I won’t enjoy killing animals I won’t eat

You've got a bit of a drive to get to deer but as long as you keep talking about stalking someone will respond with "my parents live over near X and have deer all over their garden/farm/estate/smallholding. I can ask them if you'd like to come and shoot some" etc

Yeah I’m sure I’ll get there at some point

Just to be certain, your FAC as a member of a home office target gun club will not allow its use for deer, fox, rabbit unless you also have land you have permission to shoot over, or do paid deer stalking, then the rifle will likely be conditioned for deer only.

Yeah I’m aware, I’ll be asking the feo for “any legal quarry” as I’ll hopefully be travelling to various countries for wild boar, moose etc

I moved last year to a different country and gave up my "walk out of the door" stalking and a fair few connections and opportunities locally. I have paid for first class stalking about 2 hours away and now can access a 1500ac patch of that alone after being guided around and the rest of the land guided. I had two men cutting dead ash for me 8/9 weeks ago who saw a hanging Sika in my shed....next time they came they each had a contact who had a problem, one sika, one fallow....that's a start, neither of the lads have tried venison, I've promised them a fridge pack from next beast. Talk to people. Talk to people again!

You’re absolutely right, the smallest of interactions seem to open up opportunities

Kent have been issuing open certificates and ALQ at first grant, provided you have a need.

Yeah fair enough I just think there’s a misconception floating about, on one hand we hear about the amount of damage deer cause and how we need more people to be able to cull them and then on the other hand trying to actually do that is impossible without having to have to pay for it 🤷‍♂️
There’s a huge difference between people who have a rifle and those actually able to effectively cull deer imo, keep trying something will come up once you have your first bit if you do a good job more will follow
