Any Gold Stackers on SD?

I might start buying gold sovereigns and store them in my ammo box, that way when I snuff it there will be something in my cabinets which has an intrinsic value, as pretty sure my guns won’t!!
My desire to leave money for the hmrc is pretty low, esp as they have benefitted pretty well from me during my career, so a bit of gold for the kids (grandkids if I ever have any) which would be under the radar at carking time then it will be a nice surprise for them.
Until you just told them 🤣

I have physical gold & silver, gold and silver stored in secure vaults away from the UK. Gold and silver ETFs and own shares in gold and silver miners.

I was lucky enough to be given a couple of gold coins by my employer by way of bonuses a few years back and they have appreciated nicely - my plan is to buy more gold and maybe silver coins in the coming years as a way of being able to pass some wealth onto my kids without having to worry about IHT.
Be interested to hear what folk recommend as to who you buy from - Royal Mint or is there a better option?
I have used bullion by post, Atkinsons, Chards & Hatton Garden metals. Royal mint tend to be too expensive.

Can be if your buying second hand silver from a trusted member with lots of posts, sales and years of history behind them.
Second hand bullion is what i don't understand. Gold price on the day is the price, so why would the value of a new sovereign be higher than that of a used sovereign -assuming they both weighed the same?

Silver has VAT on new purchases from dealers, second hand sales between two individuals or pre owned silver from a dealer should be cheaper due to no VAT.

A gold sovereign has numismatic value attached to it by collectors. An older coin could be worn, damaged or otherwise imperfect. An uncirculated, graded coin is seen by some as more desirable and they will pay a premium above the spot price or bullion coin price to purchase it. Not me I want the most gold for the cheapest fiat price.

My friend has just emailed me to say "Silver Is Breaking Out". It looks like it might be moving up up, and away :)

Silver is still cheap. Look at the Crawley Silver Collection on YouTube (Antiques Roadshow). Craftsmanship is how you add value. It's well worth a watch.

The world is in turmoil /the end is near / aliens are coming/ look at all the wars/ remember Germans needing a wheel barrow of money to buy a loaf of bread.
Someone always brings these up. But you must tie up money with no income for years.
SOME DAY everything will increase but when is a guess. The price of gold was going increase very soon for many years, then it finally did.
I am a farmer and tell my gold bug friends that I will have their gold soon after the apocalypse. They can’t eat gold but I can sell them food.

I have no hesitation Amazon will continue to work perfectly after the apocalypse.
