Sounds like the guy I know, he buys physical gold & silver, has been for years, him and his mother have a few acres of land away from their home that they grow fruit & veg on, he has indicated that some of his is stashed/burried on their plot... they are both eccentric...I have a colleague who buys coins and he said he buries them in little stashes here and there. He does not like the idea of them being in his home, or a bank.

Have done for ten years now, first three years were on demo accounts but not it is all funded. Have a few extremley good accounts which are close to setting me up to financial freedom

As a long term investment, perhaps it might be wise not to buy them at historically high prices, but to wait for lower prices.Thank you for the replies. I've a little spare put aside and was thinking about buying silver coins as a long term option.
