Ive got the 5th leg, its brilliant for zeroing but one things for sure, i’d never let go of a rifle sat on quad sticks even with the 5th leg deployed, ever.

Quite, all that expense sitting on x5 thin legs! I carry a length of dog rose which can act as a 5th stick but often used as a prop to hold a gate fast as I drive through, a steady going up/down ditches, this time of year stinging nettles need a bash to retrieve a muntjac.
In truth sometimes you just can't get steady, mine will be a long yomp over rough ground to make a shot so just to take the "dairy" out then I will use the 5th stick as the important thing is to make a clean shot then deal with the long drag after.
People spend a lot of money to buy kit then hang it on something that can slip/give way which is just daft, far less attention to detail these days.
How much was the scope Peter?
I think you underestimate how strong the Viperflex sticks are, you can't compare them to the strength of the pauperflex variety, as good as they are.
It will clearly aid some, but not others, & the "others" don't need to buy this, or anything similar.............................
Yes I get that but I was replying to Pellet Pinger also said I use a 5th stick so like my hangers it will help some and not others.
Personally I would not hang an expensive set up on a set of sticks but like any product to aid in a steady shot.

I agree with what your saying, some want to spend £300 on sticks and some spend £60 on sticks, that do the same job
personally I can think of better things to spend the £240 difference on.It’s the same with a lot of things in life, each to their own

My first quad sticks were of the garden variety, they were a big step forward, although the poles from B&Q were pretty shite, but they did a job, UNLESS, you travel with sticks, and then any sticks that can't come apart are useless, any why I bought the "Journey".
It's really simple, buy what works for you

I probably do it more the winter months whislt culling females and dependants.
After a severe electrical shock last year I have had trouble standing still when shooting, some days worse than others.Sorry but I just can’t see the point in having one!
My shooting has suffered to the point where good shots at 100 meters have not been possible.
3 weeks ago I bought the 5 leg for my Viper flex, and I can already now say it makes a big difference.

When I bought my Viper flex back in 2021, I quickly became very happy with it and didn't need the 5th leg.

The 130lb test curve rods up stairs are one piece and would fit in it a treat.

Travelling to places like SA, Turkey, and Serbia with firearms is stressful enough, let alone worrying if a set of £300.00 sticks will arrive too, When I can just put them in my luggage !
I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy the part. I personally had an issue, and found a way to solve it. I've shared that, and this is for the affluent Viperflex, and often Blaser toting owners, who have more money than sense

For me that just smacks of dangerous, by the looks of the images, the Tikka is live sat on those sticks, the bolt closed, mag in, safety on and you can see the live indicator sticking out from the back of the bolt shroud.
The fifth leg just clips on and stays on with just friction, theres no means of locking it so it can slide up and down the leg.
The quads wont stand up on their own and the whole set up is dependent on that fifth leg not moving.
At least with the bog type tripods the legs are splayed and locked in position so can’t open further, personally i still wouldn’t let go of a rifle on them either.
Each to their own though.
I just had a thought. Even though I've tried several different types of stock, if someone finds it too narrow, please let me know, and I'll exchange it for a wider version, as soon as the file can be modified.

I heat the Viper clip to provide a tight friction fit - it allows excellent elevation control. You don’t have to take my opinion for it, but after 49 years in Defence, trust me, it’s rock solid.
PS - The rifle can be in the condition you describe with nothing in the chamber.

Of course but whether a round was chambered or not the rifle doesn’t look demonstrably safe hence my comment.
Regarding the clip, its just that, a clip, not what i’d want to rely on the whole lot staying upright.
Isn't the front rest the limiting factor to tracking an animal ? the stock purely pivots in the back, and if anything, the higher yoke prevents the stock from twisting out ?
