Zeiss Diatal DA - Turrets not moving - Help!

Morning All

Picked this scope up from @The Singing Stalker stalker yesterday

For Sale: - Zeiss Diatal-DA 4x32

No money has changed hands yet as he kindly suggested that I pick the scope up and take a look then pay for it if I liked it.

Its a lovely little thing and just what I was after for the 30-30, however I cannot adjust the turrets, I have loosened / removed the silver screw as the instructions on this thread

But the knurled knobs will not turn at all and I don't want to apply force!!

As neither of us have experience of these kinds of turrets, any input from anyone that does would be greatly received, thanks!

Sorry, just saw that. In that case send it to east coast optics as you won’t get it to move if it’s seized up, unless, you apply some force, and that may/may not work to your advantage.

Zeiss no longer service this model, I found that out myself in the last 4 weeks

To be fair. £100 for the scope, repair will be more than that. I’d apply a bit of force and see what happens

Hey Sharps. Have you solved the problem with your ZEISS scope? I recently bought a double rifle with a ZEISS 1.5-6 scope and it was also impossible to turn the turrets. When I removed the plate with the 4 screws and the plastic ring there was a lot of old grease that had become very tough over the years. This made adjustment up/down and right/left impossible. I heated the turrets with a hair dryer and then I was able to turn the turrets. Then I scraped off as much grease and lubricated the shaft with thin oil. Now I can turn the turrets. Great suggestion that hopefully resolves the problem. One other tip is to apply the heat with the turret/s inverted. This way there is less likelihood of the heated grease contaminating the primary tube and/or crosshair.

I’m afraid I gave up on it and bought another one off of here, not a in as nice condition aesthetically but lenses were good and turrets were free.

You have to remove a locking screw then loosen 2 other screws and wind to desired reticle alignment, no clicks!
