RPA action as “Crossover” rifle?

I’m looking at something, probably 6.5CM 24inch, reasonably heavy barrel, to put in a chassis for range shooting and “short walk” and high seat stalking (have a lightweight 30-06 for long walks). I’ve been looking at Tikka CTR and SV BUT have been offered an RPA Quadlite Woodland Stalker action, 2 stage trigger and thumb hole RPA stock to be rebarrelled to my choice with Lothar Walther barrel at a reasonable price. I am going to have a look at it but don’t know the action - any views on “semi custom”vs Tikka and the RPA Quadlite action in particular? Will probably go with MDT chassis either way. Not bothered about resale value as the seller will likely be my executors!! I see Edinburgh rifles had one for sale on here.

Go for it - if I ever replace my M595 I’d be very pleased to get one of those actions. The stock isn’t entirely to my liking as I recall the cheek piece is quite low & flat but that can be overcome. Make sure it has a magazine - preferably two!

Yup I’ll keep the thumb hole but will put it in a chassis, spoken to someone else who said the stock was the weakest part of the set up

+1 for the RPA....I have a 2000 with a 2-stage trigger as a 6BR target rifle, and it's built like it'll last forever. (the 2000 is a Quadlock size action, and quite a bit heavier than the 'Lite.)

Blasphemy
😝 I know, but in my defence even if I got rid of one I’d still have three others 😎

Seriously, I can’t actually see any reason why I would need to change the M595 especially the 308. If any of the barrels do ever give up I’ll just get a new barrel fitted.

After recently bedding the 6.5x47 I did a bit of fettling with the magazine & it now feeds better than anything new I’ve used over recent years. The difference is amazing, so much so I’ll be doing the same to the 308 before the doe season starts.
