Ninja swords

OK... they don't serve a useful purpose in the stalking world, but just seen that ninja swords are being added to the prohibited items list in August, just in case anyone has one gathering dust.

Not covering the larger swords by the look of it. Over 14 inches but under 24 inches.

but what if you're a ninja ?

doesn't seem very inclusive to me !
Typical SD bias again. What about the Ronin? Why do they always get forgotten? Just because they're unemployed.

I'd missed this law change. Thanks for the heads-up. My brother in law has a few on display on his wall, for some reason.

Our laws get more stupid each month
we have rules making it an offence to be in public with any sharp item over 3.5 inches without a good reason - but yet we now need to have other specific rules regarding specific items which need definining
what is a Zombie knife or what is or isnt a Ninja sword

I teach Axe throwing with what are usually called angel axes - these are fine and ok to give to children to practice a sport (under guidance obvs I'm not a moron)
however throwing knives and stars can land you in jail for up to 4 years if you own them (even in your own house locked away)
ope of the items below is "Straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect £200"
the others are fine

make it make sense

machete with saw teeth on the back - jail

WW1 triangular bayonet - fine
WW2 triangular bayonet - Jail (not old enough yet)

Priest (a heavy wooden stick for hitting things)- fine - even if it is hollowed and filled with lead

Samurai swords are banned as they have a curved blade over 50cm, same a Saracen style sword. But get yourself a nice English long sword and you're fine.

The law would have been better to ban all edged knives and swords made of cheap metal that can't hold an edge. London Gangs arent buying quality knives from reputable makers, they're getting cheap crap off the internet that's good for the occasional stabbing but isn't going to maintain an edge while gralloching a few deer.

I know the specificity of the rules seems ridiculous, but as I understand it makes it easier for police to charge someone and make it stick when they need to.

None of this ( though on the face of it all seems fine to go ahead and ban it ) Bad people will still own bad things . Take Killings with pistols, they have been illegal ( Vets , Slaughtermen , deer tracking teams etc etc . can still have and use ) We cannot stop the violence nor can we contain it BUT FIND A MONKEY GET REAL - Its the drugs Its not like there are tonnes of Cocaine and Class A drugs and you would have to go back a long time now .
I suggest the USELESS BRITISH GOVERNMENT takes a look what has worked best in the past , Globally because there are answers

they are not banned just subject to restrictions.

Samurai and other curved Swords

On April 6th 2008 a law came into effect banning samurai and other curved swords with a blade length of 50 cm or more; there are some exceptions for registered martial artists, re-enactors and even certain genuine Japanese swords.

Here is to the law:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/import-controls-on-offensive-weapons#importing-knives-swords-and-other-offensive-weapons-into-the-uk

An amendment to this act was passed, which came into effect on the 1st of August 2008. It allows curved and samurai swords which are handmade using traditional forging/production methods to be sold without a license.

Swords with a curved blade of 50cm or more may be imported where the weapon:
  • was made before 1954
  • was made by traditional hand sword making methods
  • is only available for the purposes of use in religious ceremonies or for martial arts
  • is for use in a historical re-enactments or sporting activity for example a martial arts demonstration for which public liability insurance is held
If you are importing a restricted offensive weapon you should have evidence to demonstrate why you require it.
If you require further information about the legislation in relation to importation of knives, swords and other offensive weapons, you can email: public.enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

More legislation pandering to the tabloid press hysteria 🙄 won’t do anything to stop idiots killing each other.

“Oh I can’t get a ninja sword/zombie knife, looks like I’ll be taking Mums best chefs knife!”
