For years I wanted to shoot all six in the same year, did that then wanted all six/both sexes in the same year
Finally managed to do that
Then I wised up
Now I just take each stalk as it comes and enjoy it, whether I shoot something or not
Oh, and Sika were always the hardest to get ticked off any list

I like a challenge and even considering trying for a deer in every English county once , but gave up on that idea on time and cost.

I have however shot deer in Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Essex, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Lancashire.

How long did it take you to shoot the UK 6 ?
Almost 2yrs stalking
Roe Buck & Doe
Red Stag & Hind
CWD Doe
Muntjac Doe

Uk8 about 5 years

Reds at Melton and Notts ,Muntjac here and Bedford with Malc .
Cwd and Fallow and Roe with Malc ,Sussex and Bedford.
Still need Sika,Boar and Goat .
Wales 2 attempts at Boar and 1 at Goat ,Tim showed me how unfit I am chasing goats for 6 hours

Probably a period of over two decades ! As i very, very rarely book with commercial providers. I don't see any bragging rights in this , all a person needs to do is make some calls and send a few bacs and you could all uk deer species in a few weeks !

There’s definitely appeal in seeing somewhere different. You could be in Ireland for sika, Bedfordshire for CWD and in the Scottish highlands for a red. I don’t think the timeframe is important.

I wouldn’t knock guided stalks. You still have to find the deer, have a bit of luck with weather etc and do everything correctly.

Went on an invite for cwd but swapped that back for muntjac and pigeon shooting, shot the other 4 in Essex also have a open invite for Sika in Dorset but mainly to meet the chap I have got to know, so will go one day when I can find someone to look after the dogs for a couple of days.
My question is who has shot all 6 cleaned them out themselves skinned and butchered them up which is a lot of difference. There will be a few but not many, If I shoot a sika I will clean it out bring it home and skin it myself as the 5 others.

i have shot all six , i kept the first of each male as a memory , but i have two reds since the highland stag and the norfolk dollop i shot are night and day as trophys although the highland stag was my first and most memorable red.

now i'm really not bothered , i just like stalking deer , trophys don't interest me

First deer I ever shot was a Sika hind in 2013 followed by Fallow and roe in reasonably quick order. Muntjac and CWD last year and hopefully red this year.

If you want to do it who really cares whether everyone agrees...we are all different. Some people love to go on holiday to the same place every year...some dont ....difference is good as long as we can be polite about it

Did you clean out the Sika hind yourself? I cleaned my first Red out myself but he went to the game dealers but I still have the receipt for the weight lol

I used to organise and run a 16 day trip for all 6 UK deer species. Stags and bucks.

The only time of year you could stand a reasonable chance of success with a client/s was mid to late September.
I used to start on Roe bucks down near Chipping Norton, then travel across to Bedfordshire on the estate I still manage for CWD. Then a 45 minute drive up to Boughton Estate, where my friend Roy Green used to be the head keeper, for Muntjac.

The next day would be spent travelling up to Northumberland, where my friend Colin Kerr was the head stalker for the Duke of Northumberland. Here I would take Fallow as generally by this time the bucks would be moving to their rutting stands. If we needed another go at a Roe buck we could try here, if we were not successful near Chipping Norton.
On the Dukes place in Northumberland we could also take a European Red Stag. There used to be some monster stags on the estate, and after several years I along with Colin and his grace were the only ones allowed to take them.

Finally a long drive up to the 8000 acre lease I had in Scotland for Scottish Red Stag and Sika. This brought us right into the start of October and the Sika would be rutting and the Reds would generally have started.

With luck I would run two of these trips a year. One of my guides would generally follow behind me by a day or two. We never failed, although we came close to it once as the Roe Bucks were being elusive. I remember we shot a buck in Northumberland on the last few minutes of the day, which was blind in one eye.

Generally it was overseas clients that took these trips. But as soon as a season was applied to the CWD it became impossible to achieve. But I had some memorable days, and great times doing this.

I just have Fallow to take, and thankfully now have a bit of ground locally with a few on.

Sika was the easiest one for me.

I shot 3 on the first outing and they went straight to the game dealer who did the gralloch etc (he was a mate of my friend whose ground it was)..given I was in a hire car and staying at a hotel near Cirencester where I was working I wouldnt have been able to do much with the carcass First fallow I gralloched...badly ...but have to start somewhere.

Not always that simple mate and not really for me to dictate what I do on someone elses ground. We finished shooting when it was last light..loaded the deer and then a 3/4 hour drive for my mate to the game dealers and 1 3/4 drive for me in the opposite direction.

It is something I have suffered (pejorative) with, all my life.

Aspire, value and admire anything and everything, only to feel it devalued and worthless, when I achieved it.

Sad really.

Was a ‘threesome’ really that disappointing? Asking for a friend, obviously, I wouldn’t fantasise dream of ever attempting such a feat stunt…
