Scottish Red deer
In a historic decision the CIC has approved a significant reduction in the medal scores for the native Scottish Red Deer. The aim is to recognise the cultural importance of our largest native deer and acknowledge that its size in comparison to European deer has acted to severely restrict the award of medals
The new scores will be
Bronze 130-144.99
Silver 145-159.99
Gold 160+
The new scores will apply from 1st July 2025 and will use the current formula.
Muntjac deer
At the same meeting a proposal to increase the scores for Muntjac deer was also approved. This reflects the change in the size of heads being brought for evaluation, and is the second time it has been necessary to increase scores since 1981.
From 1st September the scores will be
Bronze 56-59.99
Silver 60-63.99
Gold 64
For heads measured till 31/08/25 the current scores will apply
