7mm PRC - Advice on Custom Rifle Builders

Morning all,

I am interested in building a hunting rifle chambered in 7mm PRC, principally for plains game.

I'm looking for a traditional handling stock in a modern material (I have a sako peak which I like a lot), and most likely a steel barrel. It would be nice to keep weight comfortable for carrying but it doesn't need to be ultra light.

I wonder if those with experience could recommend me a rifle builder?

Thanks very much.

@Ronin is fantastic. Though I think he may be edging into retirement?
Not quite ready for slippers yet

Though very selective with what I do

I have a 7PRC reamer and guages on order from Manson at the moment

The PRC like other magnums won’t perform well in a very lightweight rifle

Barrel needs some stiffness as does the stock otherwise there will be flexible consistancy in performance plus be unpleasant to shoot well

Lightweight stock and barrel in the video

Accuracy differs accordingly regardless of recoil management

I’ve a pal with a 7mm-08 in exactly the same configuration - it’s a bitch to shoot

Be unpleasant in magnum cartridge for sure

I currently have my Ruger RPR and Remington being brought back to life with James at Jager. He is certainly worth a call very helpful and knows his stuff and his reamer list is extensive including the 7mm PRC. Price is excellent as is the workmanship.

Are you getting geared up to do me a 7 prc barrel on Blaser platform 🫣🫣🫣

Bergara b14 is available in 7prc, if your planning on changing the stock they start from £900-1100

The carbon wrapped variantwas features on YouTube channel. Seems to be more decorative than structural

There is also a long action MDT HNT26 forsale on this forum they would compliment it well.

Basically building your own Bergara Elevate for half the money

Agreed
When I picked up my PRC He showed me his collection of reamers about 80 or 90 I would say.
He has a Tikka 695 (was 25-06) of mine there just deciding on calibre.
Steve.

Dave Wylde at valkyrie rifles built me a 300prc.
It's very accurate, excellent build quality etc
However, it's a lot heavier than 9 lbs.
Don't fancy using a 7mm prc weighing 9lbs.
Shoppe

Rifle alone no

But add scope , mounts and mod which will put that to around 12/13 lbs and it becomes manageable - especially as a hunting rifle where you will be using a magazine worth of cycles at a time if that
