Ragley Hall, Game Fair - Head measure.

No CiC no BDS that I could find. Priced out ? So we miss an opportunity to educate the shooting / deer curious public.

Tried to spend some money but got hacked off with no signal for the card machines. As was the stall holder who asked if I could get cash from a machine half way across the site, and to pay for the fun of doing it.
Not his fault , he had paid £800 for a show network that did not work. But I just left leaving him to put £1k’s worth back on the shelf.

Not going again
Still carrying the grump virus.

Travelled 3 hrs to get a head measured and waited 6 months to do it in person, instead of posting off to someone - no one? I was very surprised BASC had no one, the BDS were not there, no CIC.....

I'm usually the last one to complain about a show, but this year's Game Fair might be the exception to the rule. It wasn't just WiFi issues, it was the total lack of a mobile signal throughout the site, which meant it was virtually impossible to arrange to meet people there. I missed seeing old friends today as a result. So, if you're going tomorrow, and are planning to meet friends, prearrange meeting points and times, just in case there's still no signal.
I get the feeling a lot of exhibitors decided it was just too expensive to be worth attending, and stayed away. No big distributors were there, for example. Overall, the smallest Game Fair I can remember. I still enjoyed myself, but that was harder than it should have been.

I don't think there's been any head measuring at the Game Fair for a few years now. There certainly wasn't last time I went, and that was at least 4 years ago I think.

Judging by all the promotional social media stuff that the Game Fair organisers have been pumping out in the run up to the event it seems to me that:
a) The main theme of the event is now "countryside" fashion.
b) They're desperate.

Let's just hope that the Stalking Show remains true to its roots.

That is simply the number of people accessing the network at the same time (concurrent usage). You get that at any type of mass meeeting. Nothing to do with mobile signal.

True but not in this instance.
There was zero mobile signal and no visitors WiFi.
Although today they did seem to have sorted the vendors access and we didn't have any trouble spending money!

Just got back. The WiFi for vendors is working, but zero phone signal all day on EE. Not know such a dead spot for years.
The show was ok we enjoyed ourselves, glad we got free tickets tho.

EE was between 2 bar and full signal but concurrent usage was the issue. Not blocking access 100% of the time (concurrency) but you had to persevere. No visitor WiFi that’s true. And yes they had sorted vendors access somehow as I bought some stuff without issue.

There was real difficulty at the Stalking show this year , I lost a lot a lot of a good few sales the first day through it . The fact is too many folks taking up more than the local systems could handle One guy slept in his car but still we couldn't sort it and all the local hole in the wall cash points got emptied ! The very best advice if you go to buy things at the shows - Bring Cash !

The event organisers are charging £150 + VAT for the use of WiFi connection for each card reader. This was from various retailers, same story so i doubt its a porky.

Sorry, but nonsense. I have never had this issue - a complete lack of connection, all day, and even texts not getting through - at any other show. It is perfectly possible to run an event without a communications blackout.
