Interesting open letter concerning the lead shot/ammunition ban

This is my first comment on this thread although I have been following it since the day it started, along with the other threads on the lead ban.
I'm also a long standing member of BASC and my son regularly goes on young shot days, which is one of the great things BASC does....BUT!
I really feel BASC has dropped the ball on the lead ban and seeing your comments on here is very concerning.
At best unprofessional and condescending, to, at worst, undermining BASC being opposed to the lead ban.

You say BASC is opposed to the lead ban but there is no information to show how they are actually opposing it.
I have shown this thread to my syndicate members and next year we have decided we will be looking for insurance elsewhere.
That's on you personally and BASC's lack of communication with it's membership on this subject.
I am sorry to hear that, I take on board your criticism, and I will be in touch by PM.

What you could you say by pm that can't be said here?
This is part of your problem. I've seen you say pm me or I'll pm you. WHY keep it private.
I have no interest in a pm from you.
Message me in public if you want a chat.
I was going to invite you to discuss this on the phone as a fellow BASC member. That is how I normally communicate day to day with BASC members. Are you willing to give that a try?

Well said this is happening all over the country and people like your self have had enough.

Mr O’Gormans comments on this forum have reached plenty of closed FB and WhatsApp groups.
That polite thing to say that his comments have not been received too well.
I don’t think he realises the harm he potentially has done to his organisation in the last few months.
I’m with @Smellydog and @Norfolk Deer Search. Hopefully it will be now up to a good legal firm and a well supported fighting fund.
We can only hope 😎

He still won't believe you though 👀😂😂

been looking at the ban proposal again, as i now read it FAC air rifles will not be able to use lead pellets for live quarry shooting or am i reading it wrong?

as the proposal states

Paragraphs [1] and [2.b] do not apply to other projectiles which are used in, or
placed on the market for use in, an air weapon as defined in section 57(4) of
the Firearms Act 19645;

but section 57(4) states

s.57(4)
"an air rifle, air gun or air pistol which does not fall within section 5 (1) (a) and which is not of a type declared by rules made by the Secretary of State under section 53 of the Firearms Act to be specially dangerous".

So only non FAC air guns can continue to use lead pellets for live quarry.

?????

Prob needs one of the bodies to ask the question?

.22 and below will be exempt on calibre alone.

WRT .25/.30/etc the argument is always going to be is a FAC air rifle is still an airgun. And then what guidance the FEOs/FLDs get. Moot point if the FLDs ask what non toxic you are running.

conor has put me on his ignore list, so guess will not see the posting.

There's nothing in the UK, from a rat to a red deer, that couldn't be shot with a .222 (birds included), which might turn out to be an awful lot of fun! 🙃
Undoubtedly it will Tim. Even a .22Hornet will do it and has done many years ago.
