Mmm...53gr Vmax were excellent in my 1:12 Triple Two53gr V-max generally won’t stabilise in a 1-12. It’s my go to bullet in a 1-8 tikka T3 20” at 3300fps 24.7gr N140 and cheap PPU brass.
Works well with a pard night stalker and I’ve had fox at 300. I like to get closer but sometimes needs must.

They're long for 1:14 twist.I did say generally, there have been quite a lot of posts on here where people have struggled to stabilise the 53gr V-Max. Appears you are one of the lucky ones.
Just a quick example
Curious if anyone else “with a slow twist has had any issues with this bullet when reloading .
I reload for several calibers , and have worked up many different loads with the 22-250 in 2 different rifles.
I have loaded 50g vmax and other 55g bullets good very good results in both ranging from 1/2 MOA to one blurred hole.
But between both of the 2 22-250 tikka t3 with 1/14 twist I cannot get these to work at all.
And I mean struggling to hit the A4 target paper!
No doubt these bullets are tumbling and not stabilising but just curious if anyone else has had issues with these before...

Care to share your recipe?I have a 1:8 twist Tikka CTR 24 in barrel, I have only ever loaded 40 vmax for it, because it was all I could get at the time, however it shoots very well with them despite the fast twist, It is my go to Foxing Rifle for most occasions, I have just had my 22250 rebarreled with a 1:7 twist Bartlein barrel and I'm shooting 77Tmk's the groups are very promising, so this could be the new Foxing rifle for windy nights![]()
N120 ?23.1 gr of N120 for 3800fps shoots one hole groups at 100 yards, standard seating depth
YesN120 ?
Is that from a .223!!?23.1 gr of N120 for 3800fps shoots one hole groups at 100 yards, standard seating depth
Yes, I use it on a golf course for Rabbits, as well as Foxes it's a brilliant little round, first zero 64 yards and a 2nd zero of 270 yards, so its point and shoot out to 300 yards, I have a Drone x15 sat on top of it.Is that from a .223!!?

Will a barrel with a tighter twist burn out sooner?
I.E does a tighter twist automatically mean shorter barrel life .
Does the job nicely.That’s fast![]()
You would if it was a 10 or even 20mph windI shoot a 1-12 my cousin shoots a 1-8.
We reload the same 55gn v max and notice no real difference out to foxing ranches. His rifle is a t3x varmint with 1/8 20 inch. Mine is a t3 lite with 1/12 20 inch. My rifle is a lot lighter on the shoulder when carrying.
if foxing at night 300 metres is a long way!
