Hi,

Does anyone have a spare firing pin for an AYA No3 or No4? The one on the right hand barrel of my No4 (ejector model) has broken.

Alternatively, is anyone breaking one for spares or knows of a gunsmith that might?

TIA.

Try T W Chambers - Firearm Spares - Shotgun Spares - Shotgun Spares by Make - AYA - T. W. Chambers & Co

But any competent shotgun gunsmith should be able to make one very easily.

Indeed take a piece of silver steel, chuck it in a drill, hold drill in a vice, and set it running. A bit of work with a file and you will soon have a a blank made.

A bit of fitting. Then heat it to a cherry, quench in cooking oil. Polish up. Then temper by heating from the back end, with back end just turning blue and tip straw coloured. Quench again in oil to stop and fix tempering. You might need a few goes, but silver steel rod is not expensive.

ASI who are the AYA importers hold many many spares for their guns. I would pass on an used firing pin just in case when fitted what was a good efficient protrusion on the gun it came from isn't good long enough on your gun. Buy new or make new unless you can accept that used might not be long enough.

ASI are no longer the AYA importers, it’s now Manor & Co Bespoke Gun & Rifle Makers - Manor & Co That said, I’d imagine that ASI do probably still have spares to sell.

Looking at parts lists it seems the striker (firing pin) for the No3 / No4 is common with other models like the Yeoman so you could probably widen your search to help increase the chance of finding one.

This is a good recommendation. At a stretch, I've even made one which worked perfectly well for fairly light use with a nail in the past.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I wrongly assumed that these AYAs hadn't been made in years so jumped straight onto the forum, but ASI's website suggests they are still made, now £10000+...

I haven't had the chance to contact ASI or Manor yet, but found the part number on TW Chambers' website, sadly not in stock there.

A factory replacement is seemingly only £20 so that seems to be the way forward.
