Miniature Rifle Ranges (MRR)

I really cannot waste energy on concerning myself about some kind of bigger plan to stop us from shooting. What I can control is getting the paperwork done, applying for licenses and making sure I get as many people shooting and into shooting as possible… safely. I always try to set people the challenge of get one person into shooting every year if we all did it we would have a stronger voice year on year.

Like recording the lot numbers of ammunition and the desire by some forces to want fired cases kept for each firearm - none of it will help solve crime or improve public safety.
It is just another form of control.
First comes control and then comes prohibition.

This is why we started the business in the first place.

The more people we introduce to shooting the better. Even if they don't take it up they learn that it is a legitimate, and most of all a safe pastime and not something to be feared.

I think because many shooters and clubs tend to 'keep their heads down' that a lot of the non-shooting public don't realise the sport happens and their only experience of firearms is in the media when something goes wrong. So they are never going to be supporting us whom they don't think exist, and they'll accept a ban without any worries. Once they realise that it is a safe and safely run sport, they are more likely to support us even if they do not take it up.

And what was more worrying was the concern from other shooters who seemed to be concerned not for the public safety but that they had to jump through hoops but the MRR operators didn't. "Thrown under the bus" is the phrase that comes to mind, or perhaps "stabbed in the back", from shooters who seemed to be jealous of the easier process even though it is not a means to get firearms for use in the same way that club shooters use them.

Perhaps that view is backwards, the MRRs have operated for decades with no reported issues that I can find, so why can't the FAC holders have an easier process to go through to acquire the certificate?

MRRs came under the spotlight after the issues caused by the morons operating the "Full Metal Jacket" range nr Waltham Abbey. They were convicted of firearms offences after threatening someone in the street with a gun but their range was already in the spotlight because of the wholly unsafe manner in which it was operating.

And they did nothing wrong regarding the s11.

Threatening someone with a gun is not a s11 offence, and it was no where near their range.

The running of their range was a h&s violation, not a s11 problem.

They didn't get in trouble for any s11 issue. But as usual the internet got fixated on the whole s11 thing and completely missed the offences/laws they actually broke.

Are you getting all the s11 firearms added as well, and an increase in ammo holding?

Approved clubs still get a "free" FAC but they introduced a fee for club approval some years ago along with a periodic renewal fee.
I've forgotten how long the approval is valid for.
 
MRRs have nothing to do with clubs

Try not to confuse them

I’ve had another response from (yet another) FEO handed my file

They are now going to ask other authorities what they do

They will be in touch ‘in the coming weeks’’

Despite having taken 4 months and counting

I don’t think this is malicious

They are just totally out of their depth

And clearly never run a business 😳😳

No. The club fac can have any firearm per their approval. If it has an MRR condition they can also run 22lr only as a MRR.

As we run an MRR as a commercial enterprise a club FAC is not the correct one. It has to be a condition on my personal FAC.
 
Has anybody as of yet had the 11 (4) condition added to your FAC? If so, can you tell me what it looks like or what it says with regard to the conditions?
 
It should at least say

The following rifles may be used under section 11.4 @ such and such range

That would acknowledge the existence of the range and your rifles conditioned for it

Perhaps it aught to also identify you as the range owner

But what do I know
