Some people need flogged, with barbed wire preferably.

They likely have nothing, so nothing to lose if by some miracle they get caught and have no respect for others or the law.

Unfortunately it looks to be an increasing situation, at my aging years I look back and wonder how we arrived where we are as a country and wonder what life will be like for the grandchildren in twenty years when at least I will be gone.
Good Post,

ve
Some bastard has smashed the side window of my truck, and stole my ( beloved) binoculars which hang on the rear headrest.
Privacy glass, busy golf club car park, middle of the day.
I’m so angry I could spit blood.
What is wrong with these people?
check your home insurance, it may be that you can claim for your stolen binoculars, you may have to obtain a reference/FWIN number to send to your insurers.

I hope you are able to sort it!!

Patrick

I expect that the percentage of the population that commits crime hasn't changed much, but there are 20 million more people in the UK now than there were in the 1960s, which equals not only more criminals, but more potential victims. Also, the types of crimes committed will have changed (for example, with respect to the current thread, a far lower proportion of the population owned a car 60 years ago, so far less opportunity to break into back them), and also the types of places where crimes are committed will have changed.

(And before anyone jumps on the immigration bandwagon, I'd just like to point out that net migration doesn't account for anywhere near all of the population increase (less than half of it in fact, if my understanding is correct) and a significant proportion of the immigrant population are professional people such as doctors etc, so one would hope not predisposed to crime. As for illegal immigrants, I believe (but happy to be corrected if anyone's got up to date figures) that they represent an estimated 0.4% of our population, so again not a significant factor in population growth).

I`m still boiling about my Hilux butterfly window being smashed and the Ten Bucks in coins in the ashtray stolen (and the ashtray)
$80 for the window. This happened around 2000 and I can tell you now that if I had sprung the dirty **** in my car that he would have probably suffered some major damage prior to his trip to the Cop shop.

Hello, It a bain on our society in UK,

Social media is the bane on our society.
50 years ago you would not have known that @Rake Aboot had had his car broken into. Nor would you have known about any of the other crimes that other members have posted about in the same thread. You would only be interested in the relatively few that you heard about on the grapevine in your local area, or the occasional big one that made national headlines.
Now you hear about lots. Instantly. And not just in the UK. Crimes committed abroad appear on your news feed too, so you're bombarded with it. And if you read the posts - or, worse still, like or comment on them - then the algorithm simply feeds you more of the same.
Anyone could be forgiven for thinking that crime figures have skyrocketed, but in reality the main thing that's skyrocketed is people's awareness of crime, almost in real time.
The algorithm is creating a culture of fear against a threat that is probably no worse than it's ever been.

That’s far too logical an answer 😂😂

Some good points made here 👍

My grandmother lived in Johannesburg until she died last summer. She wouldn’t visit the UK because she followed British news and so thought that it was too dangerous for her here… 🙈

Hello, It is not only Car Break ins, The Oxford mail report of a Chinese Tourist having his watch stolen, I thought a few hundred pounds , £130,000 !!!!!!!

As said above, check your house policy, sports equipment away from the home is usually covered.
I had similar a few years ago but with a phone and they paid out without the premium going up.

I also wonder whether it would be worth checking some of the second hand shops/pawnbrokers in Embra - just in case the thieving little scrotes have been tempted to .....errr.....sell one of their "family heirlooms" for a couple of quid?
Sadly, like any Golf Club/Car Park/Hospital, these gits will know that someone is away from their vehicle for a while and it's an easy trick - unless there's very good CCTV of course!

This is very true
I try to explain to my lot how children are just a safe to be outdoors and they only worry about abductions etc because the internet has them terrified .
There are no more predators than there were in the 50’s 60’s etc

Hello, Quite often it happens at the parks near White Horse Hill , There is a park up near the ridgeway past the Blowing Stone where 5 cars were done

Tried to get into the canopy of my truck a couple of weeks ago. They only succeeded in causing me loads of agro because they snapped the handle.

I didn't even report it to the police. What's the point, they don't even consider it crime if the insurance will take care of it.

Not true , we now have thousands of migrants hanging round parks etc sexually assaulting and raping girls

Polis used to have a team dedicated to going to these places. Don’t know if they still exist in the world of Police Scotland.

Gold club I’m guessing was more towards Edinburgh end of East Lothian?
