What's so wrong with having a magnet in your pocket? Its not as if too many of us are still using a Sony (cassette) Walkman!

Sounds like his son has a medical device impant. Many of them are adjusted with magnets, so it's not good to have magnets around them.
AMHIK...every time I get an MRI I have to have my spinal shunt checked/re-adjusted, since the MRI machine often times inadvertently changes the setting on the shunt. Small magnets don't affect mine, but his son may have a more sensitive device (maybe due to the smaller size?).

I’m an incredible klutz when it comes to mobile phones, having lost two whilst salmon fishing and dropped others numerous times.
I’ve bought these for my last 4 iPhones (other colours are available):
They are not MagSafe cases, so don’t include a magnet for charging, but can still charge if placed on a magnet charger.
Just replaced my iPhone 13 with an iPhone 16 this week - the old phone is pristine, and the case was put on the new phone the day it arrived. If I am going to be travelling in the car, and want to use a MagSafe phone mount, I swap it with an Oterkin (not Otterbox) case that is fully IP68 waterproof, but not made of metal like the Beeasy one.

Try main settings, check that nothing is muted, if not that then check WhatsApp integral settings that it’s not muted there.Cheers all I got otterbox defender no magnetic.
Next question (I'm geriatric with technology) WhatsApp messages not making a noise?? Receiving them fine, noise when phone call & sms but not WhatsApp. Notification turned on, not on mute.
Can also swipe left or right on the chat, and three dots should appear. Click on them and a mute option should pop up, check that it isn’t muted.

Might also be an issue if it has one of the integral silent buttons on the side of the phone case, just check that it is actually functioning properly with the switchCheers all I got otterbox defender no magnetic.

Try general settings on your phone: go to apps - select WhatsApp - go to notifications - check there that it is turned on there.

As far as I can tell all turned on?? God knows. Might have to venture into public & find a *shudders* shop??
All looks as it should to be honest. Not quite sure what the problem is!
Could try turning notifications off then back on again, or selecting a different notification tone on WhatsApp. Have a play around and see what you can get to work. Maybe try tiring vibrate off as well?
You can get beefed up versions of the retractable pass lines - I broke a couple of ex-MOD ones on brambles, but I’m hard on kit as I have an over optimistic idea of what I can get into- and out of, in the woods…I use one of those plastic tabs that sit behind the phone and come out through the charging hole to attach a tether on my stalking bino case whilst stalking. Same arrangement to a coiled tether could attach to any belt loop or lanyard (many be with a HD retractable line like I use on my MOD passes) like SD saysKISS
I also have a non magnetic Otterbox Defender. I have been very impressed. Has survived being dropped in to a cattle crush and a cow walking over it, as well as falls from the tractor and being run over by sheep.
