Best all-round “calibre” aka chambering…

Dont know mate, it could be i guess .-) i think @MarinePMI actually once had satterlee join a thread on here some years back, so maybe he knows 🤠
LOL! Yeah, I remember that. Not sure if Stuart is related to Scott though.

Scott has been absent lately due to work outside the US. He's recently returned home, so he might be more visible in the future. Last I saw (a couple weeks ago), he was running shooting drills on his farm, preparing for more PRS/NRL style matches.

haha, yeah, having him show up in that thread was pretty epic  Is it correctly remembered that he was/is shooting a 6.5x55 AI ? .-)

Hmmm...I want to say he was playing around with type of 6.5x55 AI, called the 6.5 "Swedemoor" (6.5x55 with the 30* shoulder angle and neck length of the CM; not sure about the body taper though, I think it stayed the same).

He was one of the OG PRS guys, and for awhile was their international ambassador (I'm pretty sure he came out to the UK, and Spain, for that exact reason; pushing for the sport to expand outside the US).

These days everyone is pretty much shooting 6.5CM, just because it's more widely available and fits in any of the AI patterned magazines (AICS, AW and AW lipped). If you want more performance now, most just go to the 6.5PRC.

People have their favorites, but when it comes to being pragmatic about all the variables (availability, killing power and magazine compatibility), the 6.5CM gets the nods these days. 6.5x55 is still a classy and sexy cartridge, but it'll never compare against the sheer volume of guns and ammo that are available for 6.5CM.

<shrug> "Favorite cartridges" are like religion. Everyone has their own interpretation of what is the "right" one.

<chuckle> And yeah, that was an epic thread. Still makes me chuckle to this day. A lotta people got quiet when Scott "popped in".

haha, yeah, well i only found the thread recently, reading up on reloading and load development, but i bet there was quite some surprise when Scott suddenly dropped into a conversation on here  Very cool though! ,)

Aha, yes!! The Sweedmoor, - it could well be as you remember, and that i just assumed that it was an AI, hearing it it was a 6.5x55 improved (but perhaps not necessarily an AI). 👍 But yeah, if one wants that case capacity to bore ratio now, looking to the 6.5 prc first makes sfirst sense. .-)

Now we just "need" a 7x64 AI ;)
