Hiya, looking to get into reloading. Do I need to tell my firearms officer or, as long as I don’t go over my ammunition bracket, can I just crack on? Thanks all

No just get at it. Some forces may ask you to keep a log of what you’ve loaded others won’t but you won’t know that until your next visit. Happy loading

No. But you do need to be aware of the limits of powder that you can hold under the relevant legislation AND that holding powder may, or may not, affect any house insurance.

Thanks all ! will look into limits of powder and house insurance. I wonder if different counties have different limits on powder. Anyone know?

Limits of powder is really only an issue if you buying large 10kg tubs of powder and reloading 1,000s of cartridges a year for target shooting.

For the average hunter with two to three 1kg tubs of powder its not an issue. 1 kg is 15,000 od grains of powder. Most hunting cartridges use about 40 to 50 grains or a few hundred cartridges.

The Lee collet dies are excellent for neck sizing, and I use Redding for everything else........
I'm a target shooter who doesn't clean and polish cartridges after every use...... :norty:

Personally I’d stay away from kits. When I have seen them there’s a lot of junk that you’d end up replacing, thus costing you more in the long run. Buy a good press and good dies for sure. I like the redding comp dies

Just bear in mind that when you contact your feo you may be conversing with a jobsworth with neither the qualifications nor knowledge necessary for them to discharge their duties as required under the firearms act

just crack on, you dont have to tell the police anything, you got a firearms licence, go reload have fun, if it says for instance if you have 300 308 win to hold,on your ticket thats the amount you can reload and keep, you dont have to keep a log of how many rounds you make, ive never been asked in 40 years of reloading,as for lee reloading kit save your hard earned money and buy better quality reloading kit you can get some great bits of reloading kit on here on classified atb gl bs
