Cephenemyia stimulator Bot Fly in Roe Deer

Had a phone call today with someone saying that large numbers of Roe Deer have recently died in the South of England from Cephenemyia stimulator bot flies in the nose.

Has anyone any evidence or information on this topic? .

Thank you in advance 👍👍

I hadn't heard of this so had to look it up in my Boys Bumper Book of Parasites, which suggest it isn't an issue unless very heavy when they can suffocate the deer. The larvae get in when the female bot squirts them up the nose, then they migrate to the back of the throat. Might look a bit more for them Nose bot fly in UK

Thank you- I had not heard of it being a major issue, but person I was speaking to on phone was adamant that 1000 were dying of it in the UK. 👍

Two more to my knowledge in Surrey last year. One from me and one from a syndicate member. Warmer weather, more and more sheep in the area. These were all active healthy roe btw, none found dead.
I had one in the Surrey area this summer, not as infested as the picture you have but it was the first I had seen.
