Minimum calibre is .270 W

Never tried and tested Barnes ttsx buck the wind
130 grn SP yes possible a small amount of drift but not 6" @10 mph 😂

Your 110gr ttsx aint real flash and yes, a ballistic calculator will quickly show show you the 130gr SP is much closer to 6" than "a small amount". It is also 11.5mph, not 10. There is close to an inch there.

Fair enough……far too much thinking and twiddling of turret then the chance has gone as for ballistics calculator you can’t beat sticking a target up at 200 zero then see where you’re bullet is landing beats any computer program.
No point in arguing the ins and out of a cats arse hole over 1.5 mph wind. 😂😂😂😂

I only use factory ammunition; RWS H-mantel 130gn worked well in my 270 on Scottish stags, so that's what I'd use here.

Absolutely, didn't suggest otherwise. Just pointed out your guess at the drift was easily shown to be quite wrong.
You were prepared to pin the tail on the donkey with no idea, theoretical or practical, of what your bullet is doing.

I'm not, but the 1moa crowd on here may disagree with you:rofl: . Stretch it out to 350 or 400 yards though and it starts to become meaningful. Or add another couple of mph.

Ok will leave it at that then I’m not one for cock waving any way so no harm done just a bit of banter…….
👍

Yes, that`s it, then the chance has gone. I`m one of the old school hunters that works to " see deer, shoot deer" That stag as in the pic was on his toes having stopped for only a few seconds so as to re-evaluate the best getaway direction and to suss the enemy`s location. That there is the time, the best time to take the crack. On the opposite face heading diagonally uphill as he was even with him moving it shouldn't be classed as a difficult shot. Those 100`s or 1000`s of flat out running rabbits you shot as a kid have schooled you well, not how many times you can get a bullet into the bull at the bench.
For the old hands on here with many years of experience of stalking, hunting and shooting deer in the hills those many years of experience mentally allow in an instance for the distance to target, wind speed, animal speed, crosshair location and importantly the amount of lead required to place the projectile in the zone if target moves on. Animal posture assessment comes into play as well... as in 'on his toes gonna move off' 'body and head display, hurry up the ****s gonna bolt' 'slow down a bit,you have a bit more time,he has relaxed slightly'
Shooting off the shoulder isn't the same as high seat or walking around at night with a thermal shooting deer with no idea that you are there in the crop with them with the shooter having the time to set up for the shot. Its wild disturbed deer with the flee instinct dialed in for the bloke that can lift the rifle to the shoulder and shoot there and then. Even faffing about attempting to be setting sticks up on your hillside will have your deer further and further away,sometimes...many times its the take the chance as it comes approach with our shooting otherwise the hunter will get the next photo scenario where the shot is certainly more difficult but doable. The lighter 270`s etc will struggle to put him down on the spot, hit a back leg or in the paunch then the hunters game is all over. For this crack you want heavier bullets in larger calibres that if necessary will overcome a less than perfect shot. As he is shown below lead is paramount for this one...where are you going to place your crosshairs now...he is another 80-100 further on also.
The person that puts his dot on the spot like mine wins a prize. I have emailed a member with the dotted photo.

Right about there. Dial elevation, hold off windage. Presuming full value wind around 3-3.5inch wind should stick it right in the hilar. If its a bit off, it's still doing the shoulders anyway so its gonna drop.

I dont own a cartridge legal for that if 270 if min, so 6.5PRC 140g eld-m which is currently the biggest cartridge I own

Go on then I’ll stick me neck out biggest call I’ve got 270win. I’d only take the shot knowing you’re there with 300WM as follow up.

A clear miss then jG in that case I’m happy hunter. lol
Not many on SD prepared to play along I wonder why. 🦌😂

I shouldn't think so. My estimate of 1-2" is probably conservative, but not far of the mark (sorry, dreadful pvn)

There is no punishment where no pun is meant, but nah, definitely off the mark. Your estimate is still 4-5 inches short of actual. Thinking and knowing are two different states 😉

Come on @MilesW
Play along show us Pom Novices where you’d put the cross on jGs picture it’s only a bit of fun
Isn’t it 😂
