come on you Poms, pile on,nothing like a bit of banter.
Btw the Barmy Army are having a Shane Warne tribute at the MCG,Wisdens cricketer of the century..fancy a ****ing colonial **** taking the top spot as voted by the Wisden mob... come on Aussie come on.....
Yes Warnie was pure class. Probably the biggest difference in cricketing culture between our two nations is being able to praise the opposition for a job well done…..

Ladbrokes AU wont open in the UK......but guess it will be a well reasoned and impartial piece of journalism too....😀
of course,all journalism is impartial.

Yes we thought highly of Mike Gatting playing his part in the 'ball of the century' :british::tiphat: Onya Mick ...

Day two and both teams will have been read the riot act after the first day ,the sports psychologists and physiologists will have had their work cut out for them, beer sales be flat too.

It's the only proper Test Cricket in which we, the Brits, compete. IMHO. England v Australia and England v West Indies. All the rest I wouldn't cross the road to watch. And me a life member of Leicestershire since the heady mid-1970s days of Ray Illingworth and Ken Higgs.

Really? You don’t rate England vs India?

Met old Gats in St Vincent after the England vs Windward Isles game. Me and my girlfriend knocked a bottle of Rum down with him in the hotel.
Unforgettable game, the locals shlepping in a sound system the size of a house, salsa & reggae booming out with the girls cheerleading, it was a carnival!!
I resent the fact that Sky tv has taken our sport away from us, enjoyed BBC coverage, & even more Channel 4 with Hawkeye. Snickometer, & the analyst. All we got now is bloody football, & Lawn fairies prancing around & falling over.

What a days cricket, fabulous.

If Stokes can keep up his splendid performance of today, and ensure the Ashes arrive back on this wee Isle c/o other than a small boat, it must surely be the 👑 glory of his career.

Just saying!

i saw that when he belted that poor weak **** in the street.
Are you referring to the occasion he defended a gay couple from homophobic abuse and punched one of the culprits when he felt the he or the gay couple were going to be physically attacked.

He went to court and was cleared of assault.

I love cricket, I mean really really love it. At the end of the day though it’s only a game. I can appreciate good play even if it’s the opposition and winning at all cost is often a hollow victory and one which will only cheapen the victor and the game itself. In some ways it’s the ‘win at all costs’ culture that lead to sandpaper gate. Even despite ‘sandpaper gate’ I can appreciate Smudge as a fantastic batsman.

I hope that we win the test and the series but more than that I hope that England play the way they can, fast paced, aggressive an entertaining. Cavalier win or lose stuff with no thought of playing for a draw. That’s what will make the series memorable. Ben stokes is a hero, he’s changed world cricket forever.

Its not just a game Mike, it is THE GAME! It encompasses more than just sport, it is a zen, it is maths, it is the ebb & flow, it creates understanding & harmony, breaks down barriers & cultural differences, it teaches people that the game is the most important thing. well maybe not with Australia , but it is dangerous aggressive & beautiful, it defies physics & involves atmospherics, I could go on, but I'll stop there. Oh & its a great British invention!!!
