You Poms watching the Ashes?

Zacs had a rough trot. 🦆🦆

Mitchell Starc takes a stunning catch to hand Zak Crawley a pair of ducks as England's aggressive batters build on a 40-run first-innings lead in the first Ashes Test.

and a few others have gone down,Poms still leading ...aussies have to make runs to win and on their first performance it looks like a tough one.

Some match - Eng out bazzballed!

In the depths of my depression (around 5am GMT) just after Stokes nicked off - I switched to India v the Saffas to see the score No one in the ground at all apart from a few noisy schoolkids on free tickets......you know what they do to create an atmosphere.

Much rather be watching a match that has 50,000 people there and as galling as it is - losing it - than what is clearly an international match that doesn't mean much.......the Ashes means something to both sets of supporters.

Head has been fantastic - England tactics not so much - but he has literally won the game for the Aussies. Well played fella.

Christ what a shower of total shite.

Bazball aka, idiot ball, aka no game awareness, aka squander a lead ball.
Wasn't good, but in the context of the game and the series could be a massive lesson.....

They have batted previously with purpose but with control. Wasn't there this time.

The period after lunch saw them chase 3 wide ones - Root, Pope and Brook - in a pitch that was too bouncy to do that on.

Root especially will be smarting. I remember Tendulkar putting away his drive in Australia - his biggest scoring shot - because he knew it would get him out. He scored big by doing so. There is a lesson there for even the best players.....didn't see Head driving at too many......

The occasion must have had a massive impact on them. Even Stokes, who has huge self belief, indicated post match his head was shedded by what Head did in response.....

Onwards to the Gabbatoir!

They didn't win it, we lost it. and lost the plot big time. Fancy playing Baseball when we are in front, we needed to stay in, tough it out, play safe for a day. The art of stonewalling is lost somewhere, how to wear down the attack, keep making singles, keep the scoreboard ticking along, and above all give our bowlers a break so that they come back fresh. Has one day cricket spoilt our style of play?, we need to be defensive sometimes. Well done Aussies, it could be worse you could also be a Norwich City supporter.

I was of the thought that your lot gave the aussies a wake up call in the first innings. Smug and overpaid are some of our boys.
Root has been given out 11 times against Starc. One would think that he has or will have a demon in his head when he faces up to Starc again. A little like Warnie`s 'bunny' Cullinan that was a wreck of nerves when Warne took the ball. 12 dismissals in 28 matches.
Then of course our other two strike bowlers are getting fitter in the background.
